Isometrics and Chain Training for Complete Muscle Strength

I developed the chain training method as a way to shore up weak muscle that are holding back your strength and muscle building progress.
Isometric exercise is a great addition to chain training because it helps you dial in your proactive tension. By practicing the proactive tension in an isometric fashion you will be able to greatly improve your muscle control during the regular exercise.

I am totally impressed! I have been searching for this eons ago! I knew that Isometric is half the answer but the chain training was the OMG solution. I just finished your PDF on the subject, it was amazing. Just wondering why Paul Wade didn't mention that in his masterpiece. He recommended slow movement . Pavel said it well that its all about tension.Tension is a skill . I am currently reading The Mindful Athlete By George Mumford he talked about concentration in general (as in mindfulness practice) but, you absolutely shoot it in the head! Thank you Matt :)

I wish I had understood fragmented muscle tension long ago. I wasted most of my life in the gym doing isolation crap, now I spend all my time recovering from it!

Finally understand the chain training concept after two months of calisthenics. I was doing a pull up just today and for the first time felt like everything was working together as if one long tendon/muscle was running from my hands, wrists, forearms, through the elbow to the biceps, shoulders into the lats and even chest and abs.

Great video. Cns adaptation is the most important aspect of strength training.

Matt thanks for clearing something up that I had questions about for years being close grip pushups not just for triceps but for the entire pushing chain. Another great video.
Thanks again
God bless you brother

So basically if I feel push-ups in my triceps then I keep on with the same form until my triceps strengthen and then I may start feeling it in another area and so on until my body reaches equilibrium, and that is when I move up a progression?

Thanks for answering my questions without me asking 👍🏼 with my push-ups I had the feeling that my triceps were working more than my pectorals now I know I've to keep working

Another great vid Matt, love your aproach of simplicity of fittnes...it's not easy it's simple! I was practicing your chain training with some workout partners for example-I would hang from pullup bar and close my eyes trying to tese every singe muscle in my body evenly (maximum) then the partner would randomly hit me with open hand or just apply presure with finger on some of my muscles or body part. He would press my lats then my quads then toes, then lower back, chest, triceps etc the I realized that I was just thinking that all my muscles are tense-it really helped me!
Just quick questions-your oppinion on Maxvick principles and books and your oppinion on yoga. greadings from Croatia and keep motivate us (mabye with more of your working out vids)

so the best way to train around injuries or jointsor elbows pain is isometrics can i replace that with regular reps up and down with just isometric holds on every rep

Increasing your nitric oxide levels is one hack to improving tension control.

I have been doing isometrics now for two weeks and I am finding how much my weightlifting screwed me up. However, isometrics is really working for this old fart. I think I will just persist with this for a couple of more weeks programming my nervous system and the get back to repetitions. I have the rest of my life to work at this so what do I have to loose. I used to do nothing but isometric in my teens but dropped off after weights. Stupid I know. So much is waisted on the youth, that's one thing I know since I am now old

so let me get this straight u basically want us to flex/tense up all your muscles in an exercise

What's your opinion on using rings for pull ups? I think it could possibly be the best grip possible since it naturally shifts depending on your position.

Very interesting; is the PDFF still available? I didn't find it on the link.

What about squats, and in particular, pistol squats?
I don't think you've talked about knee/hip dominance. That's a thing, right?
