Drapery's are quite simple to make. The sewing is straight forward and easy. The hardest part is finding a place to lay your fabric flat.

Have had my Bernina 1230 for 30 years. Almost exclusively home dec. Just watched your walking foot video. Had this fabric slippage problem with every project. Just found the walking foot box in my sewing cabinet, never been opened! Game changer. Thank you, Mimzy🧵

Such a valuable tutorial! I’m an experienced seamstress, but I’ve never made drapes, and your straightforward way of sewing in the lining makes perfect sense to me—how to do the lining and make the curtains hang well was the main thing that I just couldn’t figure out. Your tutorial gives me confidence that I can make some beautiful drapes for my home. Thank you.

Such a helpful video. You have such a nice manner and I really love the execellent tips you have been generous enough to share. The cardboard "ruler" is brilliant! You cover so many aspects that other tutorials miss out. Thank you!

Thank you for the help. I have never made lined drapes to this extent. You did a wonderful job clearly explaining the whole project. Thank you again.

Lots of helpful hints; first time making lined drapes in decades and I was also working with different piece lengths so thank you.

Thanks for sharing, learned a lot. Never made velvet curtains before but I think your technique looks great. Greetings from North Wales UK.

Mimzy you are full of surprises because I was searching for teal curtains, I want to add some to my living room but I cannot find what I want and this does seem doable, I need to find some fabric that I love and do this myself, I had considered drop cloth curtains but I do not want to go through the dying process for that. I have no clue where to shop for the fabric but thanks.

20 years ago I made drapes for my living room. I bought drapery weights. They worked beautifully.

Thank you! It's my first time making drapes, and they will be a lined thick velvet. I'll follow your example...wish me luck!

Hi Mrs Mimzy, I enjoyed your tutorial on how to create a basic lined drapery panel and curtain.

You really know your stuff when it comes to designing.

Also, I wanted to share some face masks with you.

Tips for wearing mask when facing anxiety
1. Find a mask that you want to touch and hold while doing something you enjoy such as watching TV.

2. Put the mask on while you are at home or somewhere you feel safe.

3. Wear the mask around the house.

4. Wear the mask outside the house.

Tips for feeling anxious when wearing a mask.
1. Remind yourself the mask isn't dangerous.

2. Remind yourself you can take it off whenever you want if necessary.

3. Slow your breathing.

4. Practice wearing a mask at home where you feel safer.

5. Find a mask that works for you.

Additional tips.
Breathe from the nose instead of the mouth.
Focus less on the mask to reduce anxiety.
Put essential oils inside your mask to keep it odor free and help you feel more relaxed.

I will keep you posted with more tips as I found them.

If you are also using a thick-ish/flannel-ish interlining, how do you assemble the layers? The interlining will be in the middle- but do you secure it to the outer lining all the way up to the top? Folding the header over all of that together? Or is it attached lower than the header because all of those layers would make it too thick to pleat? Does the fuzzier side of the interlining face the "wrong side" of the fabric?

Hi Mimzy. I’m about to follow these instructions and make my first pair of curtains!!!

I have a couple of questions. Where do you get your buckram? There are so many flavors that I don’t know where to start (and is header tape the same thing?)

Also, can you pleat buckram? Or would I need pleater tape for that? I’m not sure I want to try that, but would like to know if I could.

Also, if you could do anything different or additional to make these nicer (because I notice this was two years ago and I figure you’ve learned some things since then) what would it be?

I have learned to improve my pillow-sewing from Mimzy, but this lined drapery technique is not up to snuff. I've been sewing for decades, and the laborious way she, and most others, sew side seams is not correct and leaves you with two rows on unnecessary and unsightly stitching at each edge of your drape. There's a much easier, more accurate and more attractive way to sew lined drapes.
