Volkswagen Touareg R 2024 review

The VW Touareg R is all things to all people. It's a plug-in hybrid so it can do the EV driving thing in urban situations, but that also means it has HUGE power and torque outputs - the most of ANY VW to date!

And it's a five-seat family SUV with a massive boot, heaps of tech and luxury, and a terrific cabin design.

Plus it's ridiculously good to drive - in town, and on the open road.

So is there anything that isn't good about it? And is it worth $130K AUD?

Looks like you had fun on this one. I'm guessing the fuel economy with less fun driving would be around 7L which is pretty good for a big sporty car.

I had this car petrol version for past 6 months and as previous owner of cayenne and GLE43 for 3 yrs each the Touareg for me is much better car.. infotainment system and buttons on steering wheel needs two weeks to know how to deal and benefit from all features then nothing compares to its capabilities, drive ability comfort space are much better than its rivals… where I’m Q7 or Q8, X5, GLE or cayenne sells for usd40k to 60k more… outstanding car and joy to drive

X5 is the answer. I own a VAG and it's been quite good overall but there's no way I'd choose a Touareg over an X5 30d.

Nice choice of your set off twisties to explore the performance. Sounds like it doesn’t come with a similar spec exhaust like its smaller brother the Tiguan R. With the same 0-100 times and better handling than this bigger one then if you’re not after the additional space then save just over $50k and buy the Tiguan R.
