My Favorite Stud Finder: Zircon SuperScan M4

Показать описание
Featuring new, revolutionary Target Control (TC) Level 1 Technology, the Zircon SuperScan M4 advanced wall scanner is tuned to find clean, wood studs while filtering out metallic false positive objects, such as plumbing, conduit, straps, brackets, or ducts, hiding beneath surfaces. The LoLevel and MetalliWarning Indicators alert to the presence of dangerous, deep, less dense false positives, and metal targets. With the addition of AC Scan mode, users can search for hot, unshielded AC voltage. The SuperScan M4 offers five distinct detection modes - TC, StudScan, DeepScan, Metal Scan, and AC Scan. The screen illuminates pale blue in TC mode and locates the center, edges, and direction of wood studs, while enabling the user to identify safe-to-drill zones by utilizing the new Trust but Verify technique. DeepScan mode doubles the scanning depth to find wood and metal studs beneath extra layers of drywall or paneling.

- Target Control (TC) Mode locates the center, edges, and direction of wood studs, and not nails, or protector plates
- StudScan Mode locates center, edges, and direction of wood and metal studs up to ¾ in. (19 mm) deep
- DeepScan Mode doubles the scan depth of wood and metal studs up to 1½ in. (38 mm) deep
- Metal Scan Mode locates ferrous metal up to 3 in. (75 mm) deep and non-ferrous metal up to 1½ in. (38 mm) deep
- Signal Strength Indicator helps distinguish between shallow and deep targets while in StudScan and DeepScan modes
- Low Battery Indicator for optimum performance (9V battery required, not included)

How far apart are your studs? That seemed like 5ft

If you’re in metal mode and the screen is flashing red, is it telling you it’s found AC wires (even though you’re looking for metal)? Just trying to figure out the display logic. (This thing won’t shut up.)

This is the most frustrating piece of equipment I’ve ever had. If I get a reading and I market when I try to double check it it doesn’t read that spot again. Then it’s got the flashing red so now I’m totally paranoid because according to this my entire wall has got a power behind it. Everywhere. I hate this thing with my whole being. It’s completely ruining my project.

I have tried and tried and I cannot get consistent readings with the Superscan M4. Even when using it on a wall where I KNOW FOR SURE the approximate location of the studs, with no electrical or anything else close by, based on the photos I took during construction. I have watched instructional videos, I am following proper procedures, but still the readings are extremely inconsistent. I wouldn't trust this thing at all. I strongly recommend you test this thing out at several locations where you know exactly where the stud is to see for yourself. I am going back to my older Studsensor i65 and throwing the M4 in the trash.

Is it me or does the battery not always sit properly and cause blinking errors? Sometimes I can't get it to calibrate unless I take out and re-insert the battery. Any tips?

I have the zircon superscan ID model that will light up green for wood, blue for metal, red for live wires, and yellow for plastic. Sounds great right ?!!! Nope, its all over the place, and cant remember how many times its been not just wrong, but WAY wrong. It is pure Ga-garbage!!
