Basic Checkmate Patterns 1 of 3 - Beginner to Chess Master #24

This is video #24 from the "Beginner to Chess Master" playlist. 5 basic checkmate patterns are illustrated via 17 examples. Are you familiar with the Back-Rank Mate, Hook Mate, Anastasia's Mate, Blind Swine Mate, and Smothered Mate? Don't worry if you haven't heard of these names. The names are not nearly as important as what the patterns look like on board! This is a 1st group of basic checkmate patterns, and in general a beginning stage to help develop our pattern recognition in the game. A couple terms are defined in this video, namely "flight square", and "intersection square".

Thanks Jerry.

After breaking the last lesson (Bad Bishop) into segments over a few days it was nice to watch this one straight through. 20 minutes is a nice length for me. Of course, I learned a lot from the last one. The longer lessons are more informative and serve their purpose. Variety is nice.

TY Friend, , it was very helpful and I am an experienced player, , , , we must always keep these key positions in mind in every game, it is very easy to miss checknating an opponent in the heat of the moment, and often times we don't even realize it ! Again, TY, , 😁🖒

Thanks for this great series! Request/suggestion for future episode: How to convert a "winning" advantage. Feel like I always see you converting wins even when you are way behind on the clock. Would be great to understand your thought process, especially for blitz.
