Those with certain autoimmune diseases such as Crohn’s disease should probably not eat nutritional yeast.

Thanks for watching. I hope you’ll join in the evidence-based nutrition revolution!

Wow. Eureka! Coincidentally I was Rx'd a  nasal corticosteroid earlier this wk which caused my "acne" to flare up & skin to break out in a painful blistery/flaky rash + oral thrush to boot.Over the last year I've been dealing with worsening hypogammaglobulinemia & neutropenia, which has created a host of problems with daily living activities,  aside from the already 10+ times/day (diarrhea)b.m.'s & recurrent skin woes for well over a decade now. This is life changing- LIFESAVING!! It all makes sense now. The more I delve further into the info that's been presented, I finally have an answer: acne that's really fungal infections,  IBS that's really Crohn's & a yeast intolerance.WFPB has already created much positive change, can't wait to see the outcome that cutting out the nooch & homemade bread (along with some other dietary tweaks) will have on my wellbeing.Profound thanks to Dr.Gregor & staff for all the info shared in this & many series!! <3<3

I'm not yet sold on the 100% plant based idea, but I'm addicted to Dr. Gregor's videos. So well put together, and never fail to make me laugh. Love this guy!

Nutritional yeast is not active yeast, Bakers yeast is active. The study says they used Bakers yeast, he says Nutritional yeast during the video. They are very different yeasts.

Anyone else wait for those inevitable lines and then say them in unison with the doc? 😂 "...until now" & "well you don't know until you ...put it to the test"... Literally the best parts of these vids.

Thanks so much for all you do, Dr. Greger. Just one request: please consider using more accurate titles for your videos. The title of this video does not reflect the actual content. Many people with Crohn's disease will never find or watch this video because of the vague title.

laughed so hard at the "why is that doctor not wearing any gloves?"

So helpful!! I've been battling a staph infection for several months (PCP and dermatologist couldn't help). Saw a naturopathic doctor, was diagnosed with candida, leaky gut syndrome, and food allergies (almonds and soy being the worst). After cutting out my food allergens, the infection got better. When I eat more whole foods, it clears up. As soon as I started eating a lot of nooch and drinking lots of kombucha, the infection came back and was angry! This is a bummer, but it's good to know how to heal my body. Thanks Dr. Greger and team!!

So needed this! I've reacted terribly to yeast since childhood. Worse after my appendectomy at age 12 (I'm now 32). I've mostly known my trigger foods all along. Biggest improvement in digestion happened after I quit alcohol 5 years ago. Even better since going gluten free/Vegan 2 years ago. Although, I've been introduced to all of these recipes encouraging me to add Nutritional Yeast for a "cheesy flavor", but after giving it just one chance (thinking maybe it's different now that I'm vegan) I immediately experienced digestive inflammation symptoms. So thank you for backing up my truth with facts I can show my highly insistent friends and online community. 🙏👍🏼😁

Immunology is such a complex topic. Hopefully one day we'll fully understand the root causes of autoimmune disease / allergies / excessive inflammation.

Please check your subject doctor ....whole video is about bakers yeast and subject is nutritional yeast ....both are different. ..bakers yeast is live yeast and nutritional yeast or medical yeast is inactive yeast and it is extremely important for human health....I was not expecting this video from Nutrition facts.

I am ASD (there is a known yeast sensitivity in those with ASD) and once ate a spoonful of nutritional yeast only to have a horrible nihilistic anxiety come over me. I have noticed steering clear of yeast is much better for me.

Wait so I should stop Nutritional Yeast? I thought Nutritional Yeast was inactive. I don't have Crohn's disease but I think my immune system is weak.

Nutritional yeast is not the same as bakers yeast

He said nutritional yeast same as bakers yeast which isn’t true. Bakers years is “activated” which makes bread rise while nutritional yeast is not.

It has free glutamate in it.  Free glutamate is MSG.  It forms in the processing of nutritional yeast.

Mycotoxins and aflatoxins in Beans, Corn, Coffee, Nuts, especially PEANUTS, apple cider vinegar, mushrooms, grains and dried dates, prunes and raisins would make a great video. Also mold poisoning and detoxing of the cytoxins that cause CIRS chronic inflammatory response syndrome.

Also, the debate about fortified and non-fortified nutritional yeast comes into play. Some believe that fortified vitamins are extremely unhealthy for the body. It's best people just do an elimination test, see how they feel without using whatever it is that they're concerned about for a good few days or more.

Sorry I thought nutritional yeast was inactive and had nothing like the properties of bakers yeast?
