105mm M900 APFSDS (~3.5 kg DU penetrator) at 1290 m/s

vs

T-80U hull front armor (driver position):

50mm (68 degrees) / 60mm / 60mm / 50mm RHA*

105mm M68A1E8 gun muzzle velocity (M900) - 1505m/s. 1290 m/s refers to a distance of approximately 4 km.

RHA* - Semi Hardened Armor (+400 BHN)

Knew ERA would work at a shorter distance. I picked the closer option.

1. T-80U (non upgraded ones) doesn't really have thermal optics, so good luck against the MGS at 4km

2. APFSDS even at very long range, still somewhat retains their performance characteristics

Is it possible to simulate how a damaged tank barrel (i.e. got shot by another tank) would react if the crew decided to shoot it anyway?

Hi Dejmian. Could you do similar simulation but wit Nozh on t64(or t-80U for consistency with previous simulations, dosent really matter)? Would be interesting to see how it can perform depending on the place of impact e.t.c.

As i imagined i was right to choose 0.4km with ERA, the effects of this layer of protection are really something to have in mind.

Could you make the T-80U 89/UD with the ceramic upper glacis, and a shot similar to the T-90A sim with no ERA? DM33 like the T-90A sim, ceramic is silicon carbide according to available information, layout is 55mm steel + 35 SiC + 35 steel + 5mm air + 35 SiC + 50 steel, same BTK-1 steel like the T-90A, to test if this upper front plate layout is stronger than the T-90A one

What happens if an apfsds round hits a jug of water stuck to a tank, any tank youd like. Would be cool to see if it has any effect.❤

Hey Dejmian, great sim as always.

I wanted to ask if, for fun, you could simulate a triple bounce.

I was playing my AMX-50 and an IS3 shot the upper glacias, the shell ricochet hitting the lower part of the turret, then ricochet again off the upper part of the turret flying almost straight up.

Just a fun idea.

Feels like 1-2 inch either way is a penetration. Up because it will enter the hatch and deflect down, down because it will hit closer to the fillet and not get deflected into the area supported by the hatch.
