If you're throwing your rod and the bobber is sinking under the iron trapdoor, replace the two slabs you stand on with a bed. That fixed it for me. Also, if you find your character continuously throwing the bobber because the sculk keep picking up the sounds, dont move and it should stop eventually allowing the bobber to stay.

It's all about the position of the boats, Make sure the boats are really close to falling(you can do it slow by reversing until you get to the edge of the first boat)

also i don't know if this'll help but what i did is i put my fishing rod on my off hand and raw cod(i guess any item works) on main hand and it doesn't get stuck, not even once. it's been running for 2 hours straight now(Java 1.20.4)

For 1.20 and above: You can also use banner instead of sign at the front so that you can stand anywhere like before without having to worry about editing the sign.

My auto fishing farm works a little bit. At first the trap door was open too long, then I messed with the red stone timing, then I had to just keep resetting the bobber bc it wouldn’t always go under the boat. It works modified but it’s extremely cursed to watch

i have a problem, while fishing, my bob retracts and then doesn't throw the bob in the water again, I have changed those repeaters to 4 ticks as said but it's still the same

1.19 design with the fish behind the chest with sign on it still works you just stand farther back so you cant reach the chest and aim above it so the hook hits the sign on the chest. easier to build and takes less resources also if you get a cod instead of salmon for that farm you get ocean loot which is slightly better than river loot from the salmon.

Love your videos guys. I have to admit I am completely lost and have to trust in the process. Is there a video that would explain why each block was used and how it works in the process. For example why certain block and repeaters, why 2 or 4 ticks, why the skulk sensor or the two boats on top of each other. I don't understand how and why it works but would love to learn.
