I Quit 275k/Yr Tech Job (The Ugly Truth About Remote Work)

I quit my 275k/year tech job.

Yes, it was a good job.

Yes, the money was great.

And yes, I could’ve got paid even MORE.

But as you’ll soon find out, I still dropped it all, and said “I’m outta here”.

I’m making this video for anyone out there who’s currently in the same position as I was when the thought of leaving my high-paying tech job first crossed my mind.

If that sounds like you, just know you’re not alone - and it’s ok to quit. And as for those who have yet to get their first 100k+/year tech job…

Take this video as a reminder that sometimes, money doesn’t justify sticking around.
Odds are, YOU might eventually be put in the same position as I was in your tech career.

Matter of fact, you might even get the tech job you always wanted, only to realize that it’s nothing but a pair of golden handcuffs.

So stick around, I’ll give you the full rundown of why I quit.

This generation is so blessed, and a blessing to us Millennials! I remember being threatened to lose my job if I didn’t return from maternity leave early and now tech companies are allowing 12 weeks minimal with full pay! What a time ❤

I love the authentic I quit videos because they show everyone that money isn’t everything.
Glad you’re in a better headspace and it’s been showing in your content as well

I'm proud of you. I put 130, 000 over my mental health 3 years ago now I'm just getting out of drug rehab, honestly. Keep up the great work 💪🏿💯💯

Sorry to hear about your granny and divorce. Thanks for being vulnerable and telling people no matter what their job is they need to prioritize health

Took 4 months off from my consulting job to form my own consulting firm with a few colleagues. Cutting that middleman out doubled my income and vastly improved my mental health now that I only work 7-8 months out of the year instead of 12 months a year.

The tech space needs more of this. So many romanticize the industry and don't talk about the hiccups that happen along the way. I applaud your candor and I wish you all the best.

Not all money is good money. Health is wealth. No amount of money is worth sacrificing my peace of mind. Good for you, for putting your health first. ❤

All while being a great teacher for the black community??? You are rare. You are the definition of transparency, vulnerability, strength, and resilience. Sending my condolences and will keep you in my prayers! 💐🙏🏾

Proud of you. And $30k-$50k a month sounds so lovely right now. I need to get into social media more.

So, your personal life was the issue. Not the job.

I enjoy remote work & tech. This lets me be a stay at home mom without giving up career goals.🤷🏽‍♀️

Wow. That’s definitely something i never thought about . Going through things AND stuck working in the house . I’ve definitely left a full time job with benefits because of mental health before. You absolutely did the right thing. Sorry about the loss of your grandmother. Nothing like working for yourself especially when you have the education to back it. I’m excited to follow you along this journey.

I sighed a sigh of relief when you said you were in therapy I was so worried about this was going to be story of someone not going to therapy when it clearly needed. I’m very proud of you’re honesty and openness ❤

Hate that it took so many troubling events to bring you to this point but it sounds like it's opening the door for you to accomplish so much more! Been following you off and on for a year and it's definitely well deserved! Excited to see what's coming next!

So sorry to hear about your loss and the incredibly difficult healing path ahead of you. I'm glad to hear you're taking your mental health seriously and choosing to do what's best for you and not chasing a corporate title. It's so exciting to hear what you have planned and I cannot wait to see you succeed in this adventure!

Thank you for your vulnerability. I felt this so deeply as someone who was partially raise by their gma in VA with a very small family. That's my worst nightmare that Ik at some point has to come true. I'm sorry for everything happening all at once and I'm happy you are able to have access to therapy and hopefully have a support system. You're mad inspiring and are the reason I currently have my head down studying for certs so I can get into Gov Tech. I have a technical background but I need a change. Thank you for all you do and please take space and time when you need it. 🙏🏽

Family Medical Leave Act - if you’ve been at your job at least 1 year please consider an FMLA leave before you quit ❤

FYI: I know Symone mentions around the 10min mark they were in this role less than 1 year so this obviously wasn’t an option for them. Just sharing for anyone else that needs an extended break

Man that is a lot. I went through a rough stretch with multiple life issues hit at the same time in 2013. Taking a few months to process this and recover to focus on yourself and future is what is needed during these times. Great video to talk about realities of life.
