3 Weird Signs of Colon Cancer (Found on the Skin)

preview_player
Показать описание
Colorectal carcinoma (Colon Cancer) is the 3rd to 4th most common type of cancer, that is more likely to occur in older patients, those with a family history of colorectal cancer and in those with a history of inflammatory bowel disease. Colon cancer causes a variety of signs and symptoms, but can also cause multiple skin (or dermatological) manifestations. In this lesson, we discuss 3 important (and rather rare) skin manifestations of colon cancer that can occur in a small subset of patients.

I lost my 32 year old son 6 years ago from Colon cancer. There is no Colon cancer in our family. I pray there is a cure so that no one else should go through what my son did.

My 38 year old son was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 17 months ago. Had surgery and chose to go with an integrative physician who has done treatments common in Europe. He also went strict keto with all organic food. He’s currently cancer free. I highly recommend Dr Nasha Winters book… Metabolic Approach to Cancer

My dear husband of 21 years died from rectal cancer in 2002 at 47 years of age. He had symptoms and asked his doctor about them. But the doctor dismissed them because he was in his early 40s when he first mentioned the symptoms. Unfortunately, we had minimal experience with the medical establishment at the time. So we didn’t push the matter, thinking the doctor knew best. The 3 1/2 years he was sick, I learned quickly to be an advocate for him with doctors and hospitals (and later for my elderly father when I lived with him as his caregiver). Listen to your instincts. Seek a second or third opinion. Change doctors if you are not happy with your current one. Understand there are serious mistakes made by doctors and nurses. Your health or the health of your loved one may be at stake, so too bad if your questions or concerns upsets/offends a doctor or nurse. We need to be advocates for ourselves and our loved ones when dealing with the medical profession. Though my husband’s cancer was a horribly tragic circumstance, I learned many valuable lessons that have since benefited me and those whom I love.

Beware before you start to get worried! There is a note at 1.39 which disappears in less than a second and which says these skin issues are ‘relatively common in the general population especially as patients get older but the association with the underlying colorectal carcinoma appears to be rare’. It continues to say these skin issues are unlikely to be a sign of the presence of the cancer unless they appear very suddenly.

I had a small number of Seborrheic Keratoses (not itchy) appear on my body, during the 7yrs prior to diagnosis of my stage 3 colorectal cancer. Went through 6 months of chemo and a "panproctocoloectomy" (total removal of colon/rectum) and 5yrs post treatment thankfully still cancer free. Interestingly my Seborrheic Keratoses although still there, flattened considerably within 2yrs post treatment 😎.

JJ Medicine thank you very much!🌼 Your videos turn complex and difficult topics into very clear ones. You are right, although these signs are quite rare, but if you see them, it can help you find a more serious disease.

My step dad all he had was anemia. The anemia got so bad he needed a blood transfusion. They kept trying to find the source. As the last resort they did a colonoscopy. He had a huge tumor. They had to remove a lot of his colon. He had stage 3. He went through chemo for a year. He was just pronounced cancer free;). But he had no abnormal bowel movements, blood in stool, no stomach pain. It's so crazy how it is different for each individual.

I had colon cancer about ten years ago with no skin problems as shown. I did have FAP, familial adenomatous polyposis, which is genetic and causes you to have loads of polyps which will become cancerous if not removed. I have colonoscopies every year and sometimes more often. My sister has it too as well as my daughter.

At age 33 I had malignant Melanoma, I absolutely could not get my back scratched enough, it itched constantly and about drove me nuts. The itching ended when I had surgery to remove the melanoma. My sister died at age 55 with colon cancer, she put her own health on a back burner to take care of our mother in her last months of life, unfortunately I lived across the country and my sister lived just minutes from our Mom. They died months apart. I was the younger sister, now I’m the older one by 25 years.

I had a colon resection done about 15 months ago. They removed a stage 2 egg sized tumor and about 12” of colon that wasn’t getting blood flow. I’m pretty sure I had the keratosis lesions on my forearms. I say pretty sure because my arms have full solid sleeves tattooed on them. But I could see that they were raised and they were so itchy that I’d scratch them right off. Just now I realize that I don’t have them anymore. Interesting!
