Maybe Marilla was the girl with red hair that Rachel mentioned in season 1, when she told Anne that in their Class when they were kids, there was a girl with red hair and when she grew up her hair color changend, and at that moment the scene focused on Marilla. In season 2 when Michael gave the marbles to Mathew, you can clearly see that his beard is red. And in this video maybe she was like 16 or 17, and her hair is like light brown. Nothing to do with the video but I was just thinking about it😂. By the way this video is so emotional😢

Geraldine James is such an incredible actress! The scene literally made my heart hurt, and I wanted nothing more than to give Marilla a hug. A bit unrelated, but I personally like to believe that the red haired girl that Rachel tells Anne about in the first episode IS Marilla. It would just give Anne and Marella an even closer connection and a beautiful parallel, not to mention that young Marilla seems to have dark auburn hair just as Rachel describes. And seeing as hair does darken with age, it makes sense that Marilla’s hair is now dark grayish brown. I always felt that the show implied that Marilla was the red haired girl, but it never outright says it. And I’ve never really seen anyone else mention it. Whether it’s canon or not, I don’t care. I just like to think that.
