When my Asian grandparents give me money and I decline, they will fight me to the death until I accept

That's true. The word "love" for us Asian is like a written language. It's only exist in books, not when we talk. I'm Thai and instead of saying "I love you", we said "did you eat?" or "you've got money?".

It’s so cute that grandmas all over the world continue what I call “the envelope tradition”

I once watched a Vid of young adults from East Asia (Japan iirc) calling their parents to see their reaction to them randomly telling them “I love you” and one of the parents immediately assumed their kid was on drugs 🤣

Me trying to explain to my friends that I like peeling/cutting fruit for them because that's how I learned to say "I love you"

For anyone who doesn't know, I'm pretty sure the "red envelope" he is talking about is a 红包 (hongbao), which are given to children for the Spring festival every year. People will generally put money inside.

In Poland, we behave the same, we speak through our actions. The only time that I heard words "I love you" was either on TV or when older people speak to the kids (like grandma to grandson etc.), and we also have sort of red envelope, but instead of envelope your grandparents are giving you chocolate bar with money underneath (so your parents won't see that they gave you money). You can accept it without hesitation if it's a candy-money gift, but when they give it to you directly you also need to decline at least once or twice.

Act of servitude and gift giving is pretty common love languages for my Asian family

Haaa same. When I went to college and seen how affectionate everyone else was I tried it with my parents and they asked what was wrong 😂. We don’t hate each other it just isn’t every families thing.

Asian people are the most generous people and support family without other family ask for money or say I need help..❤️

Coming from a black and asian family, i definitely heard i love you all the time growing up but at the same time you also heard the "did you eat" "if you need anything im here" things. We mixed a lot of the culture together, and i think it made me who i am. Where i can tell anybody i love them and fully mean it but won't say it unless i know i do. My mum definitely thinks I'm dying if i just call her and say i love you tho lmao
