Initially intended to be a secondary character, Winkler's exceptional performance turned "The Fonz" into a fan favorite, shifting the focus of the show from its protagonist, Richie Cunningham (played by Ron Howard), to Winkler's character. Winkler's portrayal of "The Fonz" earned him numerous accolades and cemented his place in entertainment history.

However, the success of "The Fonz" also led to typecasting, making it difficult for Winkler to find work after "Happy Days" ended. Winkler's recent interview left fans surprised as he shared his remorse for declining the iconic role of Danny Zuko in the timeless movie "Grease." The character could have been a turning point in his career, and Winkler couldn't help but feel regretful about his decision.

Despite this setback, Winkler continued to thrive, launching Fair Dinkum Productions and working as a director, executive producer, and writer. He collaborated with Lin Oliver on the popular Hank Zipzer children's book series, drawing on his own experience with dyslexia. Winkler's talents also extended to the revival of "The Hollywood Squares" and other popular shows.

In the Netflix series "Barry," Winkler's portrayal of eccentric acting coach Gene Cousineau garnered critical acclaim, earning him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2018. His performance in "Barry" is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the art of storytelling and showcases his versatile acting abilities, proving that his passion for the craft remains strong.

Winkler had a very long and successful career in the entertainment field. At his age he should look at all the successes he had, which were many and far exceeded most people in the entertainment field. Well done, Mr. Winkler.

Many actors don't want to be known specifically for one role or character, but when it's such an iconic character as 'the fonz' that's as good as it gets. Great talent all round.

I watched Happy Days back then, but it stayed on T.V. too long; they were the inspiration for the term, "Jumping The Shark ". Ron Howard was in the same position when he was on "The Andy Griffith Show "; and Ron got to see it happen to a man who is the godfather of his children. Winkler seems like the kind of guy that I would like to know.

Winkler defined the word "cool" by playing the Fonz. It would have been great if he played the Lead character in Grease, but it seems that was ment for Travolta. I think Henry Winkler is a much better actor than Travolta. I think Winkler is great at all the roles he plays.

Henry Winkler was the greatest as the Fonz, just as Erik Estrada as Ponch. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Winkler would have done just as well if he had a roll similar to Jack Webb's character in Drag Net series. Then again, most of us that know as Fronzie, would have a hard time adjusting to him playing a roll unlike the Fonz. Oh I'm not saying that Fronzie was bad guy, I'm just saying that it would be the same. Just Carroll O'Connor from Archie Bunker to William Gillespi.
