I Show the Hoses and Tools Used to Reduce the Time it takes to Perform a Recovery Procedure. I use Common Hoses but show how these Hoses differ from those used during Refrigerant Charging. Valve Core Removal Tools should always be used during the Refrigerant Recovery Process. Supervision is needed by a licensed HVACR Tech while doing this as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.

Great advice for turning the indoor fan on to speed the recovery process!

Great tips. I will also wet rags and put them on the recovery tank to keep it cool. There is nothing worse than trying to recover refrigerant on a roof that is 140 degrees. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos they are great refreshers.

I had never heard of letting the forced air side run to help reclaim/recover. But it’s actually a great idea ! I have seen external coils in water used to help cool and condense refrigerants which can be really helpful in hot weather, but why not skip the addition hose in the first place.

So turning the thermostat on to fan during recovery helps the process. But that's only for a split heat pump, or do you do the same for package unit ?

My son put a screw through the wall and hit a refrigerant line of our mini split AC unit. All the freon leaked out. Provided we replace the lineset, what is the procedure of refilling the AC with R410A? Meaning, not adding refrigerant into the system that is clean and is still working, but for our case when the line was punctured and everything is filled with air?
Thank you!

Do you need to add the weight of a gauge on the tank? Of course, I guess this ensures that you were under the 80% of capacity

Lightning hit our home and now our blower motor will not come on. Everything else seems to work. The water heater (tank type) also stopped working and smells kinda burned. Where should I check first? You whats the most common thing to go in this situation?

What you missed : aim a heat gun at the bottom of compressor /accumulater, cos the last 10% gas is trapped in now chilled oil and takes ages to come out. Heat it up it to hurry it along.!

Hey Craig, can you give a link to the brass connection for that low side gauge you have on the recovery tank?
