How To Release Your Lower Back (Safely)

If you... (i)get low back pain while while sitting, (ii)it’s hard to straighten up after sitting, or (iii)it hurts with bending, it’s very likely your lowest lumbar vertebrae is stuck. Here’s a great exercise to release it.

The main movement of the bottom joint of your lower back is flexion and extension, so we can use really LOCALISED flexion and extension to try to release the joint and to relax the tight muscles.

Could you feel those low back muscles stretch when you lifted the pelvis up?

this worked so well for me mate.Thank you! we had a heavy snowfall where i live and i tweaked my back shovelling snow and was hobbling around half stooped, it hurt to sit and standing from a sitting position was rough as well. i did these stretches and went about my day. about an hour or so later i realized that i wasn't feeling any pain and my back was loose and pain free the rest of the day and now into the next day. 👍🥇

So I attempted the technique multiple times, and found the left side of my spine is in slightly more pain and the movement was more rigid than the right side, that being said the relief afterwards was quite pleasant. I am going through your videos now to find one more for me, but hopefully you can get back to me soon and give me an idea. Thank you for the awesome video, your channel helps people <3

How would I accomplish this movement if I can’t go on all fours due to knee injury (followed by failed surgery) of one knee? Can I just stand and do it with the same effect? Or would laying on back and flattening the back, relaxing, then arching slightly accomplish the needed movement?
