I'd add having a backup solution so that the virus doesn't cause you to lose your files. Same for exporting your bookmarks (more so for people who don't use the sync features in their browsers).

Just some universal tips to protect you against most viruses.

Could you do a video about linux security? I'm really curious if it's just that less people use it or it's actually structurally secure.

I actually noticed you used a standard user account in your other videos. This is actually recommended for securing workstations in the workplace too.

I don't even use antivirus anymore, I also do torrenting every week for anime.
I only been hijacked by homepage hijacker for once, and I removed it in few minutes.

I use Common Sense™ 2016 Home Edition. No viruses so far. It's also free!

Run your web activities within a sandbox like sandboxie within virtual machine like VMware, if something does go amiss you can just restore back to the previous snapshot.

Actually an admin account is a user account, until you click 'yes' at the User Account Control popup, that is the point of it.

Someone should make some sort of "safe-bubble" which will then do basicly all thw things you said, but with a simple one button press. Its not hard to set all this stuff up. But i think it would be pretty cool

Do you need to download java control pannel, or is it already on windows ?

You don't even need JAVA for your browsers anymore especially if you use Chrome as it no longer supports NPAPI.

Just beware that antivirus tend to go way unfair with how invasive they can get, and some of them just destroy security (looking at you AVG) by installing root CAs or tampering with your browser and basically nulling encryption so they can snoop their scanning stuff there (and who knows what else).
There is also a good argument against having antiviruses at all as they are excellent attack vectors for viruses to use (I mean, if you had to exploit a process, why not exploit the one with kernel access that has privileges even higher than Windows itself, right?) and some have had vulnerabilities that could be abused in the past, so.. not "just a good thing to have" necessarily.

Problem with updating Java, is that in development, you sometimes need to have old versions at hand =/

Hello,

Went to find EMET and it says Support for EMET ended July 12, 2011. What's u with that?

I just found you so maybe that video is old?

I rely on people like yourself to help me as I am not a computer savvy person and have (in front of me) 2 laptops that I have lost to viruses.

I got that "fixit" plug in and guess it worked. It took 10 hours to do it's thing.

(Side bar - my phone said it has a virus - is that true and possible. I would think it is as it is just a computer with s speaker in it, is how the cell phone was once described to me)

Back to this video. I also went for the ESET virus thing you mentioned and they want $59.99 for it. Is that a fair price (that is for 2 years) and does that circumvent the other programs like Norton and those kind?

I am going to go to Chrome, as that is what I use and see about changing from Admin to a standard User. I guess I can do that 'coz you said I could. Gonna try all that - let you know when I do so much that I have locked myself out of the laptop (LOL).

Thanks for all the advice and about another thing - I saw when I went to subscribe to one of your channels, you had a instant video saying - "This is all a joke. Non of it is real. Don't believe anything I say. It's all just jokes!"

Is that true - and only for that account? I don't know what to think now. I did not watch any videos from that shouting entry to subscribe you but it made me leery.

The reason for the query -- I saw a video about the "marginless" inventory for car dealers.
I am 75 years old, disabled since 2000, and live on Social Security Disability. With your wisdom and world savvy, I am sure you know SSD is pennies to live on. i have to exist on $733 a month. That is literally nothing.

So if I could actually get a vehicle (even with a hole in it) I would be grateful and indebted for life. (Again I refer to your statement about nothing being real as the pic of you by the car surely looked very photo shopped. You stuck your head on someone's body.) so before I Make a complete idiot of myself,

Is that a real thing that happens? It certainly makes sense and sounds plausible. They call the Insurance company and dump the car!

Thanks for the tips, I am trying to make use of your knowledge. Also, Thanks for reading and being patient with an oldster like myself.

Thio, there's something.
1. My main admin user got destroyed, had a password, and I'm left with the secretive Windows admin which has no password.
