The only drawback that I can think of about the spongy cloth capes are that the part that goes under the head of the minifigure makes it cover up all of the neck.

Honestly I gotta say the og capes look the best in my opinion, yeah the only bad thing is that the capes that gets creased but they're still pretty cool, also I'm glad your talking about bascically a history of capes cause it's pretty cool that lego ha changed their capes over the years!

Lego capes always be cool NGL my only problem with the plastic capes is that animation wise and playability you can’t move there arms all the way to the back

I love how the new capes look, but I prefer the old ones because you can put it on top of shoulderpads and armor pieces.

I hope they make rubber capes for Doctor Doom and The Sentry

I like the new rubber capes but not on batman. I feel batman just looks better with a bigger cape

The soft cloth is my favorite. The new rubber does still look fine and adds functions you wouldn’t get other wise like easy removal. Tho an advantage the paper like capes has is the chance for printing

Red capes, I like the rubber one, but for batman and stuff, no he needs the range, you can use the cloth ones as a cover like he's covering his face

I think the best cape is the cloth cape BUT WITH ROUND END NECK HOLES it’s such a big difference compared to the squared end because it doesn’t build up around the neck at all but still covers it up

New rubber capes only work for characters like Dr Strange. I don’t like the fact that these new capes limit hairpieces that can be used for characters. Just look at Thor figure form new Surtur set. He has very long hair in the beginning of Ragnarok, but they gave him short one instead since long one won’t fit with new cape.

The cloth capes are the best, they just look natural to me hopefully LEGO doesn't abandon them completely.
Side note: with Thor you can only put his short long hair on him like in the set but the Qui Gon Jin hair you can't put it on cause it's too long and it will bend the hair piece which I don't like cause he has that kind of hairstyle in the movies specially in Age of Ultron

I hope these rubber capes don't get brittle over time

There aren't many styles of the rubbery ones yet so it's a bit unfair to compare them to the fabric ones. If LEGO were to do a wide variety of the rubbery ones, I think I would prefer them to cloth. The rubbery ones are more in keeping with the material of which most LEGO is made (plastic), can have more dynamic shapes, and are easier to keep clean.

I prefer the rubber cape because the fabric one can rip and tear

a solution for these capes would be neck printing. Lego has done it before on the DC cmf series Cyborg

soft cloth is my favorite, these new rubber capes are not it

My only big gripe is that they swish up at the bottom. I get it’s for leg mobility, but it looks bad when posing a figure who’s standing still
