I personally love the cloth capes because they essentially give you a template when you are a kid and let you make your own capes out of whatever flexible material you want.

I literally just found that Batman poly bag down the street for like $5

I'd love to see the old plastic capes get used in new sets as shingles, tree bark, or building siding.

3:58 It's kind of funny you say they were prone to ripping and fraying because of the one hole, but then both photos you show are completely unrelated. The fraying cape has 2 holes, and the "torn" cape isn't torn at all, but specifically cut to look as if it were damaged.

When I was a kid I used to cut up triangle shaped pieces of paper towels and color them with markers to make all kinds of capes.

00:36 there actually is a hard plastic cape like it now, with the new Minecraft cape being introduced earlier this year. (part №5022 btw)

Having owned the Lego Loco game, the character from the mini set is supposed to represent the Stationmaster's alter ego, the Super Stationmaster - although when he appears in the game, he'd have his actual uniform rather than the full body costume he has in the polybag.

7:40 So that’s why Lego Star Wars Freemaker Adventures had a whole episode about retrieving that cape.

I never had capes (I was never into castle stuff) but whenever I wanted to make castle things, I cut my capes out of paper and punch a hole in it to use it.

I'm curious now. Will you ever do a video on Lego during the early to early mid-20th Century? Going from its founding, the Great Depression, Nazi Germany's occupation of Denmark, and the early years Cold War.

Also, a history of Lego bootlegs would also be an interesting topic, especially in a historical context.

It’s somewhat worth noting that the Batman cape that came with the Batmobile and the one that came in the polybag aren’t exactly the same: the bat symbol is different.

1:56 the mask is also removed from the alternative art. I think they reimagined what that character was suppose to be, went from a mysterious almost villain-like character to a friendly cart operator.

2:20 i never saw the actual figure, but lego loco was a game for pc and i had that. He was originally a superfigure. All lego figures in the game had gibberish voice lines and his was quite distinct because hus happy line was clearly meant to resemble "da da da da da da da, super-man!" And the caped figure could fly.

9:31 the batman cape was made first, it came in the 1989 batwing and batmobile sets in 2020

Yes, there are 2 separate versions of set 2585. The cape isn't the only difference - there are two separate head prints also - one has a red hero mask, and the other doesn't. This head print was exclusive to the set, really awesome. What blows my mind is that Bricklink currently has the masked figure marked for deletion, claiming that this variation wasn't in any set. He definitely was - I have him in my collection.

I think the cooler part about the capes. Is that you can just print your own and cut it.

Its not the original. But if your a kid or making your own moc. Its pretty cool to be able to get a template and make your own capes, skirts...
