These are anachronisms. Items which are mentioned or displayed in the wrong time period. It would be like if there was a painting of George Washington on his laptop computer... wouldn't work. People would know the painting was a modern invention or photoshopped.

When the Book of Mormon mentions animals and items which were not in the Americas, it doesn't make sense. Apologists can say "Well, it is just a poor translation..."

But Joseph Smith said the words were shown to him on the rock. Words coming directly from God.

So there's something lost in translation here... obviously.
