Scythe is actually so slept on. The world building is phenomenal, the pacing is great, and the overall setting is super immersive. I couldn't put it down until I finished the third book, and I got the fourth immediately after it came out. I will say that I wish there was a bit more development with the love arc, but it was pretty good still.
I love how it's technically a utopia rather than a dystopia, but things still manage to go wrong. Also note: the main arc happens in the original trilogy, but the fourth is a series of random short stories that give more detail to the setting. Honestly, the fourth book, "Gleanings" works standalone lol. But yeah, definitely a must read!

If He Had Been With Me and the entire Scythe series are MUST READS. The scythe series is a series I’ll never ever ever stop recommending ifs one of my favorite book series of all time and it was fcking amazing. If He Had Been With Me had me in full blown choking sobs by the end like I emotionally still haven’t processed that book. I would highly recommend the author does a phenomenal job and the writing is absolutely amazing. Def on my top 5 for both of these books ❤️

Neal Shusterman did a great job writing the Scythe book series. even the spinoff book was such a good read. his work with post modern worlds are so imaginative.
I recommend ‘Dry’ too, if u haven’t read it yet. (Tho the main character kinda drives me up the wall)
