The story of the Great Flood can be seen in Christianity and Islam too. Which leads me to think that it had actually happened and it was in fact a real event but the real story got distorted due to different people passing it to others through generations.

I want to point out two things here. Firstly, Kansa didn't kill the first seven children of Devki; he only killed six of them. The seventh child, Lord Balarama, was transferred from Devki's womb to Rohini's (Vasudeva's first wife) womb by Devi Yogmaya, thus earning him the name Lord Sankarshan. Secondly, Hades is not the Greek God of death, Thanatos is. Hades rules over the dead and the underworld which has the same name as his. Hades is actually the God of wealth and prosperity.

If you have ever read poem *"THE PATRIOT"* by Robert Browning you might be aware of ICARUS because it's Mythological refrence is given in line Number 11:"Alack, it was I who leaped at the sun".
