I went to a local Barber asking to thin my hair and even demonstrated how to do it. They just cut everything off. 6 months of hair growth progress lost.

You did allow me to cut my own hair better than I ever got it cut by a barber or salon. I always have a friend do the back though! Thanks man

Every haircut I've had in multiple places have completely ruined my hair so I've just been doing it myself since more than a year and now I've gotten much better at it. Saves a lot of money and I feel so confident!

I found this video extremely helpful. I have a suggestion for the video editing aspect. It’s helpful to see a before and after. It will show off just how much of a difference you’ve made. I also felt like I wanted to see just how much hair you cut off.

Every other aspect of the video was very well done and I am subscribing!

I have curly hair and high density hair so styling it with a comb is really hard even with conditioner or water to soften the hair strands, this vid helped me a lot and now know the solution to it only matter is there are no professional stylists or barber who knows how to do this in my town.

Be wary if a stylist suggest thinning your hair. New one did that to me today, I now look like I have a thin hair problem! And my hair was thick. I think I just needed a few layers, but she went to town in just 3 quick zips! It will take a good year to regrow the damage she did today.

I have thick hair and they always want to thin out my hair but the hair doesn't bother me unless it's hanging in my eyes. The length of the hair weighs it down. I tried thinning out my bangs but it's temporary. Your hair always goes back to how it was naturally.

I totally agree, but sometimes the barber never listen to their clients and still doing what is not supposed to do with the customers hair.
and it costs the person with trust issues reason why they cut their own hair.

I did go to my hair stylist just around a month ago and asked her to thin my hair, since she really loves my hair, she usually doesn't thin almost anything at all so I had to tell her to continue thinning like 5 times and she still didn't thin it enough. So my point is thank you for that video, going to try doing that myself very soon. 『I'll edit this comment when I do to tell how it went』

Thank you for the info! I do get my hair professionally cut, but it’s so thick and grows so fast I’d have to go every 3 or so weeks! Within about 3 weeks it starts to weigh down and get greasy really quickly because it’s so heavy. I want to be able to do a touch up in between cuts. Thank you!

this is so helpful, i cut my own hair for maintenance since i have very short hair that i can’t afford to constantly get fixed up. saving my bank over here

I’m gonna have to try some on my curly hair at the back just because it’s so thick but I don’t want to lose the length. But after watching this I know to be super conservative with it now.

Just literally learned how to cut my own hair and it’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been happy with a haircut. Always gonna do my own now.

What if I straighten the really thick, ample hair, and then thin it? Will it turn out like what you explained in your video?

I've tried and tried to tell my stylist to thin my hair in the back and sides. She just doesn't do it. I've never seen her use the thinking sheers or razor. I finally bought a razor and have started trying it myself after watching your videos. It's a little better but the back is so hard to do.

a stylist once told me its a bad idea to thin out long hair on men because of all the different lenghts i would end up with, is this true? how would someone with very thick hair go on about making it a bit lighter?

I stopped going to stylists years ago because they all hated cutting my freakishly thick hair
