Scotty--Every other video I've seen about jump-starting a car begins by putting the red (positive) clamp on the DEAD battery, then take the other end of that cable and clamp it to the positive (red) DONOR battery terminal .  Here, you did it the opposite of that advice, and I'm wondering why. Theoretically, it shouldn't matter, as no power is yet running from one battery to the other until the black clamps are attached to the DONOR battery and then over to a ground (bare metal) of the car with the DEAD battery, but that's the way the other videos recommend doing it.  Can you do a follow-up video to explain why the way you did it was okay, and why it will not result in an explosion or at least won't cause a no-start situation?  Thanks.

The negative you said you put on any bolt under the dead car but don't hook the negative to the bolt on the dead battery I never knew that...

I connected the neg to neg terminal and it did spark, glad no explosion happened. Worked though.

It uses capacitors to jump start the car of its own dead

Also I’ve never had much luck connecting the negative to the motor.... always had to use the terminals on the dead we were taught to connect negative on dead car to engine block as a buffer to stop peak current frying electricals on dead

Trouble is it never seems to crank that hard

And we were taught donor car is to be running.... even rev it up as dead car is started....!

Is it possible to start an engine with a ratchet at the crank/harmonic balancer and maybe removing a couple spark plugs to make it easier to spin engine over . I come up with this idea when I was replacing front crankshaft seal . I was listening to car radio while turning crankshaft when it accured to me that I had the ignition switch in the run position and not the acc position . I believe the run position of ignition switch is where you want to have it when push starting an manual . transmission which in this case maybe could have started up with a little more effort and maybe removing a few more spark plugs . If so this just might be an alternative to start a vehicle ; well for the risky type that is . P.S. I was able to break loose harmonic balancer bolt by disabling the Fuel injection system, putting breaker bar on bolt and resting breaker bar against the vehicles frame then turning engine over a few times with the starter . Tighten harmonic balancer bolt best I could which seems to be good enough since I've put at least 10k miles on it with no problems . Maybe someone can do a video on all I just said . Working on another technique to jumpstart using starting fluid and jumping an spark plug coil or two but I'm still trying to figure that one at .

What about using a jumpstarter? The cable is very short do you still put the neg on the metal of the car to ground it or on the neg post
