In this video, we’re going to talk about the relationship between vitamin C and iron. There are two types of iron: heme iron and non-heme iron. Heme iron comes from animal sources and non-heme iron comes from plant sources. Non-heme iron is not absorbed by the body as well as heme iron.

Consuming foods high in vitamin C alongside iron can help increase iron absorption. It’s best to consume foods with vitamin C, rather than synthetic forms of vitamin C like those found in vitamin C supplements. Some of the best sources of vitamin C are lemons, berries, and bell peppers.

Vitamin C is especially important if you’re getting your iron from plant sources. Avoid synthetic sources of iron like ferric oxide and ferric hydroxide.

Moringa oleifera is very very high in iron! A tree used in India, Africa, to recover malnutrition. It has also very high vitamin C. I used it with a probiotic and trace minerals to help raise the RBC of a friend to normal levels after dr treated for almost 20 yrs of anemia. She had gut issues which blocked mineral absorption to probiotics can be very imperative. Moringa should be vivid green and not dull grayed or browning. Extremely high nutrient profile and very affordable to most. It raised in 7 weeks so watch carefully. Also helps balance blood sugar and bp. Great video

Indian Goosebery or Amla is most concentrated source of Vitamin C ..Ayurveda have a process to make Bhasma (ash) out of Iron called Mandoor and Zinc Ash called Yashad..the process of making ash makes it more bio available..also the quantity to have this bhasma is typically around a pinch 100mg

Thank you Dr. E. Berg for this so important info. ! I´ve taken an iron (sometimes in the form of liquid or pill...) in my entire life, because my body cldnt. produce a high quality redblood cells...
Since i watched this i started to eat food that rich in iron instead w/ lemon, raspberry & bellp.

Please do a medical check-up for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) as your symptoms may be originating from a Hiatal Hernia and/or an H. pylori infection (this is the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers - I had to do an endoscopy with biopsy to confirm this as it did not show in my blood or stool even though it was in my stomach). I've noticed a majority of my veggies contain high amounts of vitamin C, would there be a reason you would recommend fruit based vitamin C over say spinach or other veggie sources? I assume it is for higher amounts of vitamin C.

what iron tab brand would you recommend? I have low Iron and so I need to take a supplement as eating good foods high in iron is not enough. I think it is an absorption issue. I do love fresh lemons in water however I do not take it regularly only about a few times a week.

How do I absorb more from the meat I eat?
Berries, lemons with it? Other ideas for me?
Just thirty seconds for that would have been great.
Would be nice for you to suggest ways to gain weight for those of us who don't have enough.
