If you guys think this boss is hard, to the right and down of him there is a catacomb area where you can be treated to fighting two crucible knights at the same time in a cramped room. It's amazing and totally 100% fair.

Defeated him today. Advice if you're fighting on a horse: When he calls down the lightning strike at 1:22 (from a distance), wait to see his hand animation going down and then press dash/run. Avoids it 100% of the time.

If anyone is struggling, I just spent 6 hours on this boss and literally just now defeated it.

The lightning can't hurt the boss, so when he does the splitsecond attack just stay right on his backside, it hits you but does no damage I found.

That lightning attack is the cheapest cheesiest attack I've ever seen in any Fromsoft game. It's ridiculous 😂

My advice for this is use skeleton militiamen. they are 2 skeletons that can get his attention, and they die easily, but when they do, the boss will go for you, and the skeletons will revive themselves and then keep getting his attention over and over. very easy to do hit and runs with the horse, and can buff them with golden vow if you have the incantation, or the golden halberd ashe of war to make them stronger and last even longer

I beat him all on my horse and I'm so proud of myself. I also used the jellyfish spirit summon to give him bleed and sometimes it would give him a passive damage effect

when i think about how amazingly balanced and well made the godrick boss fight was it really amazes me that this boss was made by the same people

Lighting attack: from what i could tel, the way to evade it is change direction. so like if you are moving right, let's say, move slightly toward the boss because the lighting is like aimed at where you are going to go. it wont follow if you change it slightly. Now, you don't want to change direction too much because you will slow down, so just slightly. it is ridiculous tho, like every time i did it i was ecstatic.
Also, I am pretty sure the attack is supposed to be an anti-cheese mechanic, so the closer you are too him the less he does it.

Best tip I can give, you have hella i-frames when dismounting while standing still, and ONLY while standing, running dismount has no i-frames at all as far as I can tell.
So as he uses the lightning skill, come to a halt, casually dismount and remount your horse, then resume fighting. If you're gonna fight him on the horse that is, which I found substantially easier than on foot after figuring out the i-frames thing.

He's also weak to poison, you'll have to re proc it a few times but in-between fireballs you can throw a few, after I believe ten throwing knives he'll be poisoned. It won't do all the work for you but it's constant damage that'll help you. Both phases can be poisoned, but like I said it'll go away after a little while.

I fought him fully on foot around level 52 my advice stay on the shield side as much as possible. The shield side combos are alot more predictable.

Yes. The lightning boots just hit the sprint when he drops his elbow or just run in any direction. I usually run towards him cause there's a good opening after that attack but don't get caught in the ground smash. Massive damage followed by more massive damage. My health was at 46 and he still 2 shot me

use rotten stray ashes summon off the start so it can bite and inflict rot before killing the dog just keep its agro on u untill the damage starts to keep going by itsself then just evade and hit a few times when u can and it will die eventually

For those where the potion stops working, we got it to work if you just keep poisoning. Every other one worked. Every other one didn’t. So it took twice the potions but we had plenty with 10 flasks.

As a strength build I used heavy great sword +15 and killed him in 7ish heavy attacks without leaving my horse. Even my dogs survived the fight. With starscourage heirloom and radagon's soreseal talismans it boosted my strength to 60. I dont know if this will help anyone but it made it ALOT easier for me. From bullsht boss to ez.

Found a pretty good way to cheese him, dodge into his charge and try to stay near his shield, it way easier to predict or block it and it doesnt have lightning effect

What a great guide, ty!!! After 20 or so failed attempts, it took just 3 more tries after watching this.

Hi just adding some info someone might find of use, you may also parry his blunt attack plus there is the npc summon sign nearby. Parrying has to be perfect and done multiple times to damage posture

How the hell do u dodge his lightning attack if it one shots you and tracks u down? U cant even out range it because it hits you wherever. UPDATE: So i actually beat this guy after a good hour and maybe 50 attempts after this post and I will explain my method. Long read but hopefully this helps. It's less rng based and more timely but it's safer. Once I got it down I easily was getting him to the 30-40% so I knew it was only a matter of time I was gonna get him. Lvl 60 vagabond, med equip load, 10 flasks but had 3 left. I used horse entire fight with a sword and jelly fish (poison will eventually proc but weaker shots) and/or minotaur archer (more health, more dmg, more stationary) summons (either summon works) at the edge of the rock above the respawn before fighting to keep them barely in firing range and not take cross damage. After that i boosted up to him and got a good 3 shots in before circling baiting out his attacks to get a good 1 or 2 hits in to keep aggro while either summon did range damage on him. The trick to this is to stay close/mid range moving and weaving in and out for a good hit or two while dodging his attacks. I stayed circling left (u attack on the right) and before he'd attack and just boost away before closing in for a good swat or two. You must be super good or master this to get to the second phase easily, if your really good u can stagger him for crit 2-3 times, but def dont get off your horse. His attacks arent hard to dodge but his impact aoe can be a pain so when he jumps to land it boost out the way and counter with a hit or two circling and staying close. Be mindful of your distance, castle walls and trees while circling and weaving. Fireballs can be dodged going left or right no boost but if it gets hairy use boost. Manage that stamina and try to keep aggro to keep ur ranged summons alive doing damage since they will inevitably die during the second phase if not already before it. Ok now second phase, lets get this out the way, the bs lightning attack. I only saw one way to avoid it and that was to ride regular speed, wait 1/half second and dismount from horse so it glitches through you. It's a small window, but it works. Timing js everything, dont be scared to die to study his arm when he does it and get better at doing this. I didnt jump from mount or jump and roll since those require too much timing without me still getting hit. Sometimes hed one shot sometimes two. Whatever happens get back on your horse asap. You have to watch his arm movement to know when to dismount, mid range is easier to spot because you can see his arm to time it better. In the second phase u want to keep him mid/close range like the first to do damage and bait his attacks and it lessens the chance he'll do the bs lightning attack. Be careful of his ground lightning wave attack tho, if he does it always double jump over it or boost and double jump to create some distance before he does the follow up big aoe shot. This is how he tries to put distance between u and proc the bs lightning attack. Don't know if anyone read all this, but the fight got alot more manageable doing these steps. The bs lightning attack one shots everyone who summoned me in co-op but with three people it can be done since everyone is so close doing damage unless he backs everyone away with the circle aoe that surrounds himself with lightning. Unless someone gets back in their asap, someone is gonna die damn near everytime. My shield, health and stamina undoubtedly helped those i did get through since I obv knew the fight and was close enough to keep aggro while astrologers and other classes could range or hit him from the opposite side I was facing. I could only take 2-3 hits (no damage, blocked by 100% damage negate shield) before stamina wore out but those seconds are precious damage with one or two people with you.

I saw a comment in the other video where you use the rotten stray level him up to level three and then fight for about two seconds with the night long enough for him doing inflict the rot then just run out of site and watch that health part tick down to zero As a huge souls fan I never like taking a boss this way but when it makes me stuck for two days then it’s a problem I don’t I promise everyone should try this it works amazing
