How To Defeat Draconic Tree Sentinel - Elden Ring Gameplay Guide

There are only two Draconic Tree Sentinels to be found in Elden Ring. One just outside of the back entrance to Leyndell, and the other in front of Maliketh's boss room. Their armor and weaponry is stylish, but also does huge damage that can be extremely difficult to avoid. In this video I discuss my tactics and strategy to avoiding this damage and highlight the best moments to counterattack.

The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika's offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between. Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring.
And become the Elden Lord.

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression—similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls—and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game's main bosses.

Combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated and close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics. Elden Ring introduces mounted combat and a stealth system, the latter being a core gameplay element from Sekiro; these features are expected to encourage players in strategizing their combat approach with each unique enemy they encounter. The game makes use of a player character stamina bar after being absent from Sekiro, although its overall influence over combat was reduced compared to previous FromSoftware games that utilized it. Unlike in Sekiro, resurrection mechanics after in-game death are not available; however, some elements were added to ensure players' progression within the game.

Miyazaki stated that the customization in Elden Ring would be richer, as players are able to discover different skills through their exploration of the map instead of unlocking skill trees as in Sekiro and differing from the pre-fixed weapon skills of FromSoftware's previous games. These skills are interchangeable with a large variety of weapons which, alongside equipment, magic abilities, and items players can craft using materials found within the world, can be used to customize the player character.[4][6] The game also features summoning mechanics, where players can summon a large variety of collectible spirits hidden throughout the game's world map, including previously defeated enemies, as allies to assist them in battle. Similar to the Souls series, the game's multiplayer allows other players to be summoned for cooperative play.

Whoever designed this boss and decided to put it twice in the game should be fired

This helped me beat the Sentinel in Crumbling Farum Azula on the first new try after having failed many times. I initially avoided the shield side because it seemed deadlier, but after getting hit many times with his staff and watching this video, I targeted the shield side and was instantly successful. I'm 100% melee.

basically just wait for the move where he jumps towards you with the club -> roll forwards -> run to the shield side & hit -> avoid shield attack with a little distance -> hit -> avoid shield attack 2 again with distance & hit again -> run away

you can time the shield lightning dodge with his animation. He brings the shield up, and then down. As hes right around the end of his bringing down shield animation, dodge. This worked for me and I beat him immediately after I focused on his shield animation.

I decided to take him out solo and this lightning attack of his is just some kind of mockery - it hits you wherever you are. I had to spend 3 flasks just to resurrect the horse after sniper electric shocks, it’s good that first of all he doesn’t have that much health and secondly there is no second boss behind him as I expected. 😁

Very good breakdown, I came here specifically to see how others deal with his Lightning shockwave and follow up lightning slam attack.

Something I'd like to add, that if you're good at parrying, you can "stun" him if you can parry his hammer attacks. From my understanding, nearly all of them can be parried with an exception of a few.

I know Im way late but here is how I defeated the one in Crumbling Farum Azula. I went to controller settings and disabled crouch with L3 and after that I beat him the first try. He kept killing me because I guess in the heat of the battle I would unintentionally press L3 and I would be crouched down and he would smoke me every time but I went to button repec and changed the L3 crouch/stand to -- and now I cant crouch but I could just put it back whenever so that is what enabled me to finally beat that dude after like 30x him taking me up out of there

I end up using torrent to start my fight and I get a ton of hits in on him. The singular red lighting he sends out can be dodged on horse if you get close to him while he summons the lightning and circle around 8/10 the lightning will miss you but my issue right now is I am impatient

I decided to use Torrent after 2-3 tries on foot. It was sooo much easier with Torrent lmao. In total, i think it took me 6 tries, which is not bad imo

How can I do this with the blood fang sword? It swings pretty heavy and slow so I cant ever attack without him retaliating before I can dodge.
