Great video Stephie. Aside from public accounting, there are plenty of jobs in private industry that pay very well and sometimes higher than public accounting positions. Overall a very thorough video. Thank you!

BS and MS in Accounting, 22 years of experience including 7 years as a manager, implemented ERP systems as a manager for a midsize company; now I just work as Sr financial analyst for fortune 100 company; my salary - well my wife with associate degree in nursing, RN license, and less than 2 year experience makes more money than I.

I’ve always worked in industry and done everything from staff to controller. I’m consulting now, but never did audit. I don’t regret it because it has never interested me. But I also feel like I have always been blessed to be at the right place at the right time when it comes to my career. And I agree..CPA is key.

Why do accountants have such very low wages compared to other industries? I mean for the specialized knowledge and skills you have, you guys deserve more!!! Someone needs to advocate for the accountants. Obviously, the AICPA is a pet to the greedy firm owners/partners and Fortune 500 management of this country. SMH

What does it mean when it’s your 2nd week at work and you’ve been kind of nervous because you’re new to the job but you ask one of your trainers and she says your doing great and she asks “how long have you been here, since last week?” “I reply “yes since last week” and she says “yeah you’re doing really good”. But she has given more work to the one that has been there for 7 months and the guy who’s been there for 1 month, and not me…. Does that mean she doesn’t think I’m ready for that amount of work? I work for the city as an accounting clerk. ….. am I just overthinking it? I was working really fast and balancing with my money while the others were kind of messing up with their counting and then all of a sudden yesterday and today they started working faster than usual…… any thoughts? Like I’m not sure if I’m being useful or resourceful
