In this video, I want to cover why lemon water is essential if you’re doing fasting and the ketogenic diet. 

Typically, when a person thinks of lemons, they think of citric acid. Lemons may help decrease the risk of kidney stones because they help bind with oxalates. There is also some vitamin C in lemons. But, the vitamin C is destroyed if the lemon juice product has been pasteurized. 

What’s interesting about lemon juice, is that within one hour after you consume it, it turns alkaline. Lemons may be beneficial for people that have acidosis. 

Symptoms of acidosis:
• Shortness of breath 
• Labored breathing 
• Headaches 
• Tiredness
• Confusion 
• Tremors 
• Arrhythmias 
• Increased heart rate

You don’t actually want to be too alkaline or too acid. A great remedy for being too acidic would actually be lemon juice. 

What can cause the body to be too acidic:
• Keto/fasting 
• Kidney problems 
• Too much iron 
• Alcohol 
• Lactic acidosis 
• Ketoacidosis 
• Liver problems 
• Excessive exercise 

If you’re doing fasting or keto, mix some lemon (about 1 oz.) in water and drink that to help minimize acidosis and some of the symptoms of acidosis.

You are a true doctor, I learned more from you the past few years than I ever have. I always tell my sons, in regards to their health, “a pharma trained medical doctor MAY save your life in an emergency, but they will never make you healthy. That is your responsibility. “ I have not yet known one person who saw their regular doctor for chronic issues that have been resolved. Never. They get sucked into a medical blackhole and they don’t escape. All health problems are at BEST managed. Never healed. They are kept sick and medicated. Its a viscous cycle.

I am on IF (16:08) and early in the morning I go for an hour fitwalking. When I come home I drink half a liter of cold water with the juice of two lemons and a tablespoon of ACV. I keep sweating for a good half an hour and then I feel so much energy and power throughout the whole day! Thank you for your advice!!!

Wow this must of been the power of God, because im fasting and have been drinking a lot of apple cider vinegar Im feeling these symptoms and I drank some lemon water and instantly I start feeling better.

I was doing WATER FASTING on my 9th day I was out of it feeling more tired, sleepy and confused than I ever felt.

I drink lemon water every day. I started doing that after developing a kidney stone several years ago, and finding out lemon helps prevent that.

I've been starting my days with lemon water, some salt/turmeric/cinnamon, then continue to fast until the afternoon. I find that it wakes up the body and mind the moment you drink it, also empowers your fast. Try it!

I work at a restaurant and when I was doing my fast for the first time I started to use lemons in my water like my body was telling me I needed it. It’s amazing to think your body will tell you what you need.
