This was the first Star Trek I ever saw. In hindsight I was probably too young (around 4) too appreciate it. The ear wigs scene always disturbed me as a kid. It wasn't until I was in 5th grade that a friend of mine asked if i had any Star Trek on vhs. We did and we had apparently bootlegged 2, 3 and 4. I don't think I had watched them in order before that night because it was like a revelation. I instantly fell in love with Star Trek. Shortly after that I caught the 6th movie on HBO while home sick and it was all over from there. I was hooked. Lol
