Scotty wasn't crying over some kid, that was his nephew.

Everyone else: **B*tching because they love this movie**

Me: **Crying because Spock being dead at the end of this always makes me upset**

5:06 That simulation was revolutionary in fractal and algorithmic art, and paved the way for most video special effects we have today. Minus one sin for disrespect.

Should have taken a sin off for James Horner's music on this film - it really was masterful. It was definitely part of what made the film's overwhelming success.

The "word" Scotty's soon-to-be-dead nephew is talking about is reference to the earlier scene where Kirk inspects the engine room and he ask Scotty if "his" engines are capable of handling a training crew. Scotty replied "Give the word, admiral", to which Kirk replied "The word is given." Meaning command or ok. 10 sins off for not paying attention to the movie.

"is this moving saying Scotty has gonorrhea?"
No, it's referencing the original series "The Trouble with Tribbles" and Scotty's classic distaste of shore leave.

Yes, you SHOULD believe that these senior officers would pretend to be juniors for the sake of these college students, because:

A. It's a military college.

B. It's one of the best ways for cadets to learn, because they're gaining knowledge from people with direct experience.

C. They ACTUALLY DO THIS AT MILITARY COLLEGES IN AMERICA.

One sin for cinema sins not knowing Peter Preston was scottys nephew

In naval terms, mister is a referral to rank.
In the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard it is proper to use Mister to refer to commissioned officers below the rank of lieutenant commander, or to subordinate commissioned officers, though the use of Mister implies familiarity compared to the use of rank title for an unknown officer.

No sins removed for 62 year old Ricardo Montalban's physique, which is more impressive than most guys in their prime? The guy was pretty cut for a senior citizen, and it was not makeup, he actually worked out to look more menacing for the role.

If the studio had left in the part where Scotty says the trainee was his nephew, their scenes would have made more sense.

"This scene gets me every time."

Me too, Jeremy. Me too.

I just had the privilege of watching STAR TREK II on the big screen at my local theater yesterday. ILM’s simple, practical special effects were beautiful to see. I am so tired of the boring, mind numbing CGI crap in movies today. I wish that todays filmmakers would learn that sometimes less is more.

Actually upset there wasn't a "Khan" bonus round.

I have heard that Walter Koenig was aware of the continuity error, but held his tongue to avoid having his part in the movie diminished. He also jokes that Chekov was hogging a bathroom that Khan wanted to use.

You didn't mention the one huge plot hole I always cringe over, lol. That no one on Reliant realised there was an entire planet missing from the Ceti Alpha system, LOL:D
