Grouping philosophers and their philosophical teachings into categories such as "Early", "Middle" & "Late" "Platonism" is unhelpful and distorting.
To correct one of your statements, Plotinus the founder of what is now called "Neo-Platonism" never used the term "God" so you are mistaken to describe his philosophical teachings as "Religious philosophy".
Plotinus indeed influenced many later Jewish, Christian and Muslim theological scholars and you can see that influence throughout the so-called "Abrahamic" religions. But the main thrust of Plotinus is that his teachings are a universal TRUTH, that stands on its own and does NOT need a "religious" framework or "religious" dogma to support it. Photinus taught that each of us is on a spiritual journey from the "One" and back to the "One" and that the journey is an internal spiritual journey that does not need religion.
However, you are correct in saying that later philosophers added extra layers to Plotinus' teachings, unfortunately, these additions corrupted the simplicity of Plotinus' model and led many into a "religious" black hole from which there was no escape.
