All great picks. E.R. Dodds and his commentary on El. Th. are indispensable.

One of the books mentioned was translated by Thomas Johnson. I have been reading a book called American Metaphysical Religion by Ronnie Pontiac and he includes a chapter about Johnson and the interest in Platonic thought in Midwestern American in the nineteenth century.

The Enneads have been some of my favorite philosophical/spiritual reading in a while. It has definitely given me a lot to think about already, & I haven’t finished it yet. Up there with the Asclepius of the Hermetic tradition; the Upanishads; the Yoga Sutras; a small, concise, (considerably more recent) book I have a special affinity for called “Manual No. 3 on the Path of Knowledge (Jnana Marga), ” of mysterious authorship afaik, published by some organization called the Hermetic Truth Society… Many of my favorites in this kind of idealist sort of sphere of brilliant mystical/esoteric philosophical works.

Were is Damaskios? Proclos made many errors. Damaskios advocated to return to Iamblichus.
