debian and xfce were made for each other, looks aside they both have similar update cadence's so if you want the most stable experience, welp there you go

EndeavourOS and OpenSuse TW XFCE are both nice as well, especially EOS is one the few Xfce distros I could use ootb, looks and works great as well.

This video should be called "Which distro ships the prettiest XFCE" since the aesthetics seem to be your primary concern.

a little shame, that Zorin and Endeavour were left out from this list, their xfce theming is exceptional.

Peppermint have this really interesting concept of maintaining Debian and Devuan editions of their OS. I don't know for how long they've been doing it, but I think it is a great concept.

Only for information, xfce is one of the few environments (maybe the only one) that works completely well on the BSD distributions like FreeBSD and Netsd. In all others environments (on BSD systems) there is always something that goes wrong (sorry for my English, I speak Italian)

linux mint xfce one of the best out there

Mint XFCE (and Xubuntu to some extent) is popular in the Latin American Linux community due the big amount of older and outdated PCs, which is why in most Spanish speaking Linux channels you see more reviews of Cinnamon and XFCE but not too much about Mate
I love Cinnamon but between XFCE and Mate I would probably go with XFCE because it is very stable, funtional and very customizable, Mate is great but it doesn't have the charm that XFCE has

This is OpenSuse/Gecko erasure. :)
I would argue that Debian + vanilla xfce is superior to the other base distros + xfce just because there is a great "philosophical" coherence between Debian and XFCE: if you chose this you know what you want, i.e. stable stuff that just works and won´t be messing about tomorrow trying to add a new feature.

Im always amazed at the unixporn XFCE ricing, XFCE can be really themed and riced.

I would be curious to know your opinion if you try EndeavourOS version. I don't use XFCE but I had it installed recently and it was less horrible that what I remembered of XFCE :)

Can you do a browser tier list, or a search engine tier list.

Your thumbnail got me when I saw Manjaro at the bottom!

Manjaro suddenly forgets to load the decorators for the xfce desktop so you cant move any window, I didn't see this since compiz times.

I always love seeing some xfce love. To me, it's the most functional DE. KDE is a tad too overbearing, it gets in your way rather than just sitting back and allowing you to do what you need to do. And gnome is well. Not my preference to say the least. But XFCE just seems to get ignored by a lot of people

You missed an opportunity to film this from an xfce desktop

Where can I find detailed changelog for Xfce? I'd like to know when Xfce dropped Xfree86.

No matter the distro... XFCE is XFCE. You can customize the way you want. The best desktop environment is the one you are used to. I use a low-end laptop with mint XFCE. It is the lithest desktop from the 3 mint distros

Hey DT, do you think that Canonical have cleaned up their act since the whole Amazon spyware debacle? How do you feel about them as far as "free as in freedom" goes?
