Maybe I had enough money but still not enough faith?

Arthur did not really die from TB, he died from carrying the entire camp, and Dutch still not thinking that it was enough.

I think rockstar is just telling us that no matter how much you give to someone like Dutch, it will never be enough.

*donates 1 billion*
*sits around for a couple of days*
The camp: “what happened, you’ve stopped carrying your weight?”

it's so sad when you realise in this game that no matter what you do for the camp, nothing changes, really wish there was more on this in the game

The reason this happens is because the camp fund counter data type is a 32-bit signed integer. Which the maximum value is 2, 147, 483, 647

Arthur: Donates an entire world worth of money to the camp.
Dutch: “We just need money.”
Arthur: 👁️👄👁️

Imagine being the gang and seeing Arthur standing infront of the donation box putting his hand into his saddle for a whole day

Arthur: Donates $1, 000, 000 (which would be equivalent to about $35, 904, 819.28 today)

Dutch: wE sTiLl NeEd MoNeH

Who else was waiting for Miss Grimshaw to come along and yell at Arthur for not doing more around the camp? lol

The reason you couldn't donate any more than ~$21, 000, 000 is because you presumably hit the 32-bit integer limit, meaning if it let you donate any more than that limit, the funds would tick over into the negatives, meaning the gang would be $21, 000, 000 in debt.
Hope this clears things up :D

Edit: ngl, after getting like 20 replies I lost track lol. Now I got 6.2k likes and 112 comments. Thanks lol but yeah there will be a lotta missed replies

Fun fact: What our friend in this video donated is larger than the entire economy of Tahiti (probably)

I always found it funny when I did my 3rd gameplay and I donated over $30, 000 in the 1st camp and hearing the scene where Dutch says "we need more money" always makes me laugh.

that is honestly an oversight, Rockstar knows the lengths regular players will go to in order to relieve boredom in a videogame, and YouTubers will go to even greater lengths to make content worth watching. They *knew* this would happen.

This is maybe my only problem with RDR2. Talking seriously, it's quite easy to end with a lot of money, and it caused this kind of situations. I still remember when they were planning the robbery at the Saint Dennis bank, there's a moment Dutch says they need like $4000 to escape to Tahiti, if I'm not mistaken. And I was like "Dutch! I have $11500 right here in my damn pocket!!"
PD: And just to be clear, I had high honor, never assaulted trains or people (unless a mission made me to) and yet I still had more money than I could spend

I honestly don't think Dutch ever actually planned to go to Tahiti with the gang. I feel like his plan was always to get as much money as he could, then cut and run in the middle of the night with the box. Maybe he'd go to Tahiti, maybe not. But his plan was always to make the rest of the gang work to get him that money just to keep it for himself
