DJI Mini 2 UK Drone Laws - Do you need to register to fly your small drone?

In today's DJI Mini 2 episode, we look at the UK drone laws and discuss what registration is needed in the UK to become a drone pilot. Yes, even though the DJI Mini 2 is a small (under 250g) drone, there are still drone rules set out by the CAA that we need to know about. There are two kinds of registration. 1. Flyer registration and 2. Operator registration. But what is the difference? And which do you need as a Mavic Mini or Mini 2 pilot in the UK?

Great info. I applied for my operator and flyer ID over a year ago for my mini one even though i didn’t need it at the time but figured it was only £9 a worth having if I wanted to upgrade. This video is great because so many people struggle with the new rules. I’ve subscribed 👍

Got my operator ID the day my mini 2 arrived, none of my friends have any drones just use it for family stuff and to go out on local field to have some fun, it was a personal choice why I didn’t take flyer ID, I can always take it at anytime I want to if I choose to continue with drone, just don’t feel you need to take it if you don’t want is what I’m saying, it’s entirely up to you .
Great video to help ppl navigate if they need a flyer ID for mini 2 as the website can be very confusing for ppl .

To me the rules are a bit of a contradiction as it states under 250g you need a operators id and not a fly id, but an operators id don't allow you to fly a drone it's just an owner's id, so then you need a fly id to be able to fly your drone.

I didn’t find this clear at all. Around

1:40 you say operator ID is required!
1:51 you say the mini 2 was released prior to CAA classification.

So the mini 2 is exempt because these rules came out afterwards??
