I've been intermittent fasting for about 8 months. I've lost nearly 90 pounds. I love it. I will never stop.

Totally tracks with my experience. I have been doing it for 6 years and works great for me. I eat from 530 to 1130. Weight has been stable even with muscle growth. Big win for me is that I don’t obsess about food anymore. Big takeaway is do that which you can sustain. Love you Dr Mike….in a totally non-plutonic way! ❤😂

Slow carb diet with intermittent fasting and walking on a treadmill for 1-2 hours a day…the cardio is easy on my joints and I get a good sweat while building up my endurance. I’m down 50lbs in 4 months …it works for me…thought I’d share my success

The thing I love about intermittent fasting, personally, is that it keeps my mind balanced and stable. I struggle with adhd so that might be why, if I'm in university and have a lunch break, after lunch I really struggle to be present during classes. It's also great as a mood boost because I get to reward myself with a big meal after I've done all that I needed to do for the day, I get to enjoy my huge meal slowly and relaxing and it also helped me fix my sleep schedule.

The thing is that as Dr. Mike said, it's not for everybody, I have overweight friends that wanted to try but gave up after a few days because all they tought about was food, and that's fair.

I love that I get a V-Shred ad before this video, lol. Maybe I need to check that dude out, he said I can eat that cookie and eat that slice of pizza, lol. Love your videos man, even though I'm never going to be a competitive bodybuilder. I'm 42, stay-at-home Dad of 4, a Marine vet that had let the domestic life and Dad Bod take over, but your videos and "no bs" info has gotten me 20lbs lighter over the past 18 months. I have about 25lbs left to go, but I'll get there and keep it off thanks to you! Keep up the great work man, you really are helping people!

Intermittent fasting brought me from 237 to 175. But it was miserable…. And I mean fuckin miserable. As soon as I had watched about 50 of Dr. Mike’s videos. I have stayed at 172 for months. And I’m eating 4 meals a day and loving life again. Lost about 10 lbs and put on 10 lbs of muscle. Still at 172, getting ready for my first real cut (ever) hoping to get to 165 without losing any muscle over 10 weeks, then 10 weeks to stabilize. Then back to building that muscle baby ❤🎉

Love ya Dr. Mike!

Most esteemed Dr Mike: It would be super super cool if you could do a video on gaining muscle/managing nutrition with Type 2 diabetes. Your video on insulin resistance really bummed me the F out. I will never give up hypertrophy training (especially because weights are helpful for diabetes) but I'd love a special focus on diabetes -- super relevant to THIS video, as intermittent fasting is getting rave reviews for improving insulin sensitivity.

I do IF (16:8) for a year now and I am super happy. I visibly lost body fat but no loss of weight. I feel more energetic overall, I am NEVER sick and set many new PRs in lifting. I can highly recommend it!!!

IF works well for me. I actually enjoy hunger now that I've gone through multiple periods of IF, it teaches you that hunger is not a negative thing and can be controlled.

I would love to see a video of you chatting with Dr. Fung who is one of the most visible fasting experts. You guys could have a healthy debate or discussion about fasting for health in general and fasting with muscle growth/maintenance in mind

I’ve had some gut inflammation issues lately and fasting has been a good way for me to keep it under control.

Iv been quietly waiting for this 1! A year ago me and wife stared IF and I wasn't training. It was the only thing we changed and kept the calories in the 'window' and both lost loads of body fat. I started training in december after lots of study from the RP channel.
I automatically added in the 4 points of advice given here. Ok i have muscle memory but in 8 weeks of bulking super happy with my gains. Best 8 weeks i ever had by a mile. Continueing to monitor and adjust intake as i go.

When I was in the process of losing weight, I did keto with 18-6 IF. Basically, I didn't eat breakfast. I had coffee in the morning. I ate two meals a day, lunch and dinner. I lost weight fast and after a week or so, I wasn't very hungry at all. I was NOT trying to preserve muscle. Even though I've switched to try to gain some muscle, it's very hard for me to eat right when I wake up. Trust me, for 50+ years I couldn't do anything before I had breakfast. Now, I actually like not being constrained that way. So, I try to get my eating done between about noon and 7 pm, but I'm not very dogmatic about it. It's more of a comfort thing; I don't like going to bed right after I eat. I'm now focused more on calories, food quality and getting enough protein. BTW, I've seen studies on time-restricted eating that indicate some weight loss benefits for getting your eating done earlier in the day rather than later. Not a huge benefit, but possibly some benefit.

The way Dr Mike laid out a good IF plan is almost what I already do anyways, so now I'm just gonna go hard into it. Thanks for the great advice as always Dr Mike!

I used to intermittent fast, then low carb then Keto. At the moment I switched to eating carbs again (fruits, rice, potatoes, no bread/flour) and my training, recovery, muscle growth just changed day n night. Conclusion: stay open-minded. Try different things and see the difference yourself. Great vid Mike!

My dad started doing this when he got cancer. It really helped him mentally and even physically. He lost a few pounds and it actually helped with the cancer treatments. By cutting out most carbs, suger and fasting he made the tumor smaller.

Tried IF when doing solely cardio and wasn't worried about muscle loss (didn't have any to lose). It was great! Lost lots of weight. Began weight training and realized: at the end of the day, 2000cal = 2000cal no matter when it's consumed. I don't worry about IF eating windows anymore, but IF did make it "normal" for me to not feel controlled by hunger, and that's stuck around which has been nice!
