For future me inevitably checking back to this video:
1. Where am I feeling it?
2. Feel it for 90 seconds - don't suppress it!
3. Where's it gone? What's it turned into?
4. Rinse and repeat until you burrow down to the core emotion of that triggered the surface level emotion.
5. What can I do to tackle this core feeling?

What an important topic to cover. This is so impactful because so many issues are arise because of this lack of control. I used to be so much worse as a kid. Everything fired me up.

Let’s give credit where it’s due- neuroscientist Dr Carolyn Leaf discussed this in her podcasts called cleaning up the mental mess’ as well as in her books.

I'm one of those people that has wild mood swings when their period hits and ngl its kinda destroying my relationships. I deffo need therapy but in the meantime collecting techniques to fix my symptoms is making me feel less helpless. I'm really hoping this helps me move away from the self destruct button and actually burrow down to what's truly bothering me. (And in a more time-effective way!)

I spent all of yesterday in a puddle of tears and anger bc really I felt trapped by my brain and isolated bc I'm back home with my parents. It took a night terror for me to finally work that one out 🤦‍♀️ (shout out to the giant spider from my subconscious)

Did I realise that yesterday during the day? Nope. Instead I picked a fight with my lovely partner and he was like "okay I'm not changing this corner stone of my personality bc it's a normal thing to have bc you're pissy for no reason???" Luckily he's still speaking to me but jfc I can't keep doing this? Why is it whenever I have something good I want to ruin it??? Ugh. Anyway that's a conversation for me and a therapist to have.. sometime in the future...

Very interesting... just tried it but I think sometimes it might take more than 90 seconds. As always great advice Heather
