Killed For Christ

What happened to the other 11 disciples? They have been slaughtered because of their commitment to Jesus Christ.

According to tradition:

1. Andrew was hung on a cross upside down, all the while exhorting people to turn to Christ
2. Nathaniel was skinned alive and crucified
3. James, the brother of John was stabbed through with a sword at the command of herod
(Acts 12)
4. James, the son of Alphaeus, was thrown off the temple and then stoned and beaten with
clubs
5. Thaddeus was beaten, then crucified
6. Matthew was speared and staked to the ground
7. Peter was crucified upside down
8. Philip, church history says, was tortured with iron hooks and then hung upside down until
he died
9. Simon the zealot was crucified and then sawn in two
10. Thomas was thrust through with a spear
11. Matthias who replaced Judas was stoned and then beheaded

Two Questions:

1. Do you think the apostle John knew the cost of following Christ?

2. Do you?

The resurrection of Jesus Christ wasn’t a made up story, they sealed their testimony with their blood.
