Training the Serape Effect for Maximum Power Generation

Показать описание

The serape effect describes the diagonal arrangement of many muscles in the human body: the rhomboids, serratus anterior, and internal and external obliques. Together, these form an x-shape across the front of the body and wrap around the upper back, connecting each hip to the opposite shoulder.

Tapping into the serape effect is what allows a martial artist to deliver a kick with a literal *ton* of force, or a baseball pitcher to throw a ball at over 100mph!

This video explains more about what the serape effect is and how to train it. I also talk about the stretch-shortening cycle, and how these concepts can work in tandem. Enjoy!

This dude has really won me over little by little...in a very crowded field of “experts” he always seems to fill in an overlooked, or under emphasized point of importance. Getting a lot from your work sir, good job!

Awesome, old school workouts... no straight bars to rip the joints, no using oversized weights etc. Love it!

It's nice to see all the old greats and their training methods validated so concretely in one video. Ross Enamait has been preaching the methods of the sledge and medicine ball throw for years but this explains why it works so well. I miss the sledge work I used to do, gonna scoop one up soon and put those tires to use.

I love the content offered by this channel, you're giving new aspects, angles and perspectives, most of workout channels are generic / redundant, but this one is so refreshing, thank you both for your efforts 🙏

Your so brilliant. No arrogance, a clear scientific approach to training, a string knowledge of physiology. Thankyou so much!; I'm an applied mathematician so your an icon to computer science, IT type people.

Subbed. Love the push for conceptual understanding vs the “how to” approach for movement training. It’s not super useful for beginners who just want to look good in the mirror, but great for specialists who want to squeeze every last ounce of performance from themselves or their clients.

P.s. a very humble move to show yourself so highly trained in functional movement, but still so outclassed against someone trained to use their body as a weapon. I believe a lot of people seek raw strength training thinking it will help them during physical confrontation. Strength alone makes you slow, tense, reactive, and overconfident. An easy target for a trained martial artist.

Big difference between confidence and competence.

Thank you for this video. I now understand why I had back pain after a night of league bowling. I hadn’t strengthened the correct muscles in my back. This knowledge makes me optimistic about my chances of rejoining league bowling. Thanks!

I like how you are finding time to do this with a child 👍🏾. I love the way you train and your dedication. I have a family of 5 and I find time to work out as well. Some times I get all kids in on it 😂... 12yr old, 9yr old, and 3yr old. Keep up the great work.

I clicked on this video expecting another financially-driven tool from the fitness industry using clickbait, and yet I found something completely opposite. Good, scientific information with excellent examples and good philosophy. Thank you.
