Good review. I agree with your assessment. "The World Before Yesterday" was also a good read. He spent a great deal of time living with and studying tribes of New Guinea and it is pretty wild. There were hundreds of different languages and subcultures on the island. I viewed it as a microcosm of world society and a tribute to the eternal nuttiness humans. Homo Sapiens (wise ape), I absolutely think NOT.

Haha I was thinking about the bower bird when you said some animals make art. I read about that in a Dawkins book, then again somewhere else.
