These five books are fantastic when it comes to “mental stimulation”. They are quite profound and enriching on a different level in comparison with most books I have read. They make you ponder on so many questions regarding who we are, why we are here, why we are the way we are, and much more.

Let’s see them individually:

1. The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond

A book that will walk you through the path that made us evolve into what we are. An insightful book for sure.

2. Until the End of Time by Brian Greene

This book goes in-depth to explore the whole universe and asks questions about who we are in relationship to the universe. A very stimulating book!

3. Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

A book that will make you reflect on a lot of things that unfolded in history. It gives you a new perspective from which to look at history and humankind. Moreover, the book is incredibly engaging and well-written.

4. The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker

This book is like being stabbed in your soul. It makes you question everything you do. It makes you reflect on how essential death is to what we do as human beings.

5. Chimpanzee Politics by Frans De Waal

Observing and studying our closest relatives is a fascinating way to get to know our species. Chimpanzees can reveal a lot more than what we can observe by simply studying ourselves. This book is often overlooked. Rather, it is a gem that needs to be explored.

Have you read any of these books? Would you add any other books to this list?
