It is so gratifying to see a whole new generation of people discover Kate Bush. When I was in high school, a friend played me a cassette tape (hey, it was 1978) of her first album, "The Kick Inside". By the time "Hounds of Love" came out, I was a huge fan. As someone on here commented, it's strange that in the 1980s, many considered her songs and videos to be weird, but now, they make perfect sense. Guess that's one definition of being ahead of one's time.

Lyrics:
It doesn't hurt me (yeah, yeah, yo)
Do you wanna feel how it feels? (Yeah, yeah, yo)
Do you wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me? (Yeah, yeah, yo)
Do you wanna hear about the deal that I'm making? (Yeah, yeah, yo)
You
It's you and me
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
Be runnin' up that building
Say, if I only could, oh
You don't wanna hurt me (yeah, yeah, yo)
But see how deep the bullet lies (yeah, yeah, yo)
Unaware I'm tearin' you asunder (yeah, yeah, yo)
Oh, there is thunder in our hearts (yeah, yeah, yo)
Is there so much hate for the ones we love? (Yeah, yeah, yo)
Oh, tell me, we both matter, don't we? (Yeah, yeah, yo)
You
It's you and me
It's you and me
Won't be unhappy
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
Be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
Be runnin' up that building (yo)
Say, if I only could, oh
You (yeah, yeah, yo)
It's you and me
It's you and me
Won't be unhappy (yeah, yeah, yo)
Oh, come on, baby (yeah)
Oh, come on, darlin' (yo)
Let me steal this moment from you now
Oh, come on, angel
Come on, come on, darlin'
Let's exchange the experience (yo), oh, ooh, ooh
And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
I'd be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
With no problems
Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
I'd be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
With no problems
Say, if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get Him to swap our places
I'd be runnin' up that road
Be runnin' up that hill
With no problems
Say, if I only could
I'd be runnin' up that hill
With no problems

80's was a fantastic era. Artists and bands that dared to be weird and wonderful. I read Wuthering Heights over 30 years ago because of Kate Bush. Might read it again. My literature teacher always said: "Read, read, read, it's not a waste of time."

I am 51 and never would have dreamed of a song from when I was in 8th grade to resurface as a hit 37 years later.

I was 15 years old when this came out in 1985 and it was the soundtrack to my being a teenage heavy metal fan (AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Dio, Diamond Head etc) Kate Bush had such a huge influence on my secret :) music tastes, I loved Enya, Clannad, Tasmin Archer, Sam Brown, Fleetwood Mac...too many to list really. Looking back at all the great music of the 70's, 80's and 90's there is just too many great artists and songs to choose from. I feel lucky to have had them all as the soundtrack to those years. I hope all of you that are new to these songs will help keep them going for a long time to Bush was a huge artist in the UK and it's been great to see her music recognised all over again to a new generation all over the world.

2024 and I still find this song on my laptop as ONE OF my 'GO TO' SONGS when times are rough. Eighties were and are one of the best of times.

So glad the public is getting a reminder of Kate Bush. She's released great music since before I was even born, and I adore all of it.

Bush explained in a 1985 interview: "It's about a relationship between a man and a woman. They love each other very much, and the power of the relationship is something that gets in the way. It creates insecurities. It's saying if the man could be the woman and the woman the man, if they could make a deal with God, to change places, that they'd understand what it's like to be the other person and perhaps it would clear up misunderstandings. You know, all the little problems; there would be no problem."

This is so beautiful ❤

I was 15 when i first heard this incredible song. 1985 me and my mates would hang around, getting up to all kinds of mischievous behavior and almost every bar we would pass, Running Up That Hill would be blaring out.
I loved it from the first time i heard it and it made such an impression on me, every time i hear it i'm immediately taken back to summer 1985 with my friends. There's not many songs can do that.
Incredible track

I saw an interesting interview once with Bjork. She was asked who her influences were, without hesitation she said, " Kate Bush gave me permission to let all my sounds out. If it weren't for Kate Bush I would not have the courage to be me."
BOOOM RESPECT!!!

80's pop music was at an elite level. Even songs that have been overlooked can come back at anytime.
