This is what Gabe Newell foresaw back in the day with Windows 8.. this is the beginning of them locking down the OS and it becoming a walled garden.. Thank God for Gabe Newell forseeing these things and insisting on bringing steam to linux as gaming is the hold out for alot of people and everyday Linux gaming gets better thanks to him

Microsoft mandating Microsoft login accounts gives me YouTube removing the dislike kind of vibes 😂😂. We all know no one wants it and we all know only 1 party profits from it and it's not the user

Another reason for switching to Unix or Linux in general. An OS should represent real functionality, offer stability and be sustainable!

I avoid Windows 11 since release due to this requirement. I refuse to use an OS that dictates me on what can I do.

I've been daily driving Windows since 3.1 and I was "there at the START" in '95. Microsoft said Windows 10 would be the last version of Windows I'd use when they released it and they were right. Buh-bye, Redmond. It looks like, with many thanks to Valve, Linux Mint is all I'm gonna need from now on, anyway.

With the introduction of Chrome OS Flex, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft further made tweaking with your UEFI and firmware increasingly difficult and more likely to break things. They will give some excuse like "hackers are bad/think of the children/etc", but the Linux community may be a casualty of this in the future. Microsoft has become less concerned about Linux desktop, as it still only holds 2% market share. They are, however, concerned about Chrome OS! Google has managed to create the second largest desktop OS by market share, overtaking macOS. Google's heavy push in education is brilliant! People tend to stick with and have bias for things they grew up using and tools that they used to create something they liked or remember fondly. That is why so many people use Microsoft Word now, without trying other offerings.

There are already reports of new employees requesting Chromebooks when they join the workforce. The ability to install Chrome OS on most computers may be compelling to admins and technicians that want an easy to deploy and manage solution, without much concern of complexity introduced by Windows. Chrome OS, essentially being a modified version of Gentoo Linux - attacking Chrome OS installation will be an attack on Linux installation. I hope Microsoft doesn't take the tack that Apple did and encourage that "Linux is best run in VM".

i thought i might give it a try since there is alot of community fixes out there for all the wizardry but this is the cherry on top for my decision to have 10 be my last windows

Thank you for your video. Thankfully I've been learning Linux over the last 6 months so then I can get rid off this nonsense once and for all

I'm glad I switched to linux long time back. Now looking at the steps Microsoft taking I don't think I'll ever switch to windows again as I've Console for gaming needs.

I'm glad to see the gaming push on Linux gathering "Steam". I've only got one W10 box and it is my gaming rig. Did the offline setup on it. All my other machines are W7 or Linux. Moving into the future, I'll be moving those W7 boxes to Linux.

all the people saying they are going to switch to I bet 95% never did....Just create a burner MS account and remove after OOBE or bypass during install and be done with it. Rufus will even remove the TPM and SECURE BOOT and MSA requirements now too if that's any help.

I'll have to get some new Linux enabled equipment in the future but yeah no offline for Windows is a deal breaker. I'm glad I switched to Linux a few years ago it has been great.

They force you into an MS account for advertising ID. How fucked up is that? You pay for a license just to be targeted by ads.

I've started using more Linux than Windows of lately.
I've also started using more self hosted apps like Onlyoffice, because I refuse to use Office 365 with passion.

It’s a safe move considering the only people still silly enough to still use windows are the same people who are fine with telemetry

What about people who uses a device for digital signage, POS, or another use case that doesn't need to be online at all times?

This mandatory Microsoft Account sucks.

Like, why pay for a windows licence? They will still collect all your data even if you do pay them up front.
