My only concern with these stripped down versions is that I’m afraid I’m going to run into a situation where some app or game would have some weird obscure problem because it relied on something that had been stripped out. And because the vast minority of people use these lightweight installations chances are the problem is never going to turn up on google searches so you’re completely on your own on troubleshooting it.

For a channel names "The Security Channel, " I am surprised that you didn't do any basic security analysis of these ISO's. For example, scanning the files before and after installation with a couple of anti-virus products, monitoring network traffic for calls or beacons out to malicious or unrecognized sites, doing an analysis of the running processes.

One immediate concern is that the project owners don't publish a hash to determine if the files downloaded are authentic. Even if I trust the TechLatest, I might not trust that the download links haven't been hijacked by malicious actors.

I would do all these things myself before using these CD's on a real network. But many others who watch your channel won't have the knowledge or skills to do so. This would have turned an interesting video into a truly useful one.

I think benchmarks comparing standard Windows to this would have been useful.

I’ve been using Ghostspectre windows 10 and 11 for more then 2 years now. With the compact version, I didn’t run into any compatibility issues. No Cortana/Defender is a big plus for me and I get 5-8 fps more in every game. Battery life on laptops is also better because it runs less processes in the background.
I’ve been monitoring outgoing internet connections and haven’t really found anything suspicious yet.

This brings back some memories. I still have my 210 MB mini CD with Win 98 SE Lite on it.

I've always tried removing telemetry and debloating Windows the best I could with tools like ThisIsWin11 and other tweaks, but never went so far as to install modified ISOs. I think the lowest CPU process count I got was 114, so to see only 92 in this is very impressive, and Edge being purged too given it always lingered. I'm currently trying out Linux and liking it a lot, but if it doesn't work out I may consider something like this (or maybe in a virtual machine).

I have been using win10 ghost for almost two years now for gaming and daily softwares and no problems so far, as a person who loved win7 it's just nice to have full control over the OS I am using

I love this. I really wish Microsoft would just make an official lite version or better yet let the average user control their computer. I'll still do my best to stick to Linux due to the open nature of it, but things like this definitely tempt me to go back to Windows land.

I have been using his iso's for quite a while now and I'm happy with the result, since windows 10 1709 to now windows 11 22h2 his versions of windows always worked for me since I was looking for something that didn't had the telemetry and bloadware the normal windows has for a bit more privacy, I tried creating my own debloated ISO but since I don't know much in depth about it like he is with the toolbox he made and the scripts I can only follow a tutorial, I also tried other versions of "lite" windows ISO but they either don't have windows update option anymore since I know that is a way for Microsoft to spy on their users and it's a good thing it's disabled to the sfc / scannow comand for corrupted files being disabled as well and I will download updates manually and install them, no way I got time for that and so ghost windows iso's were the best combo for me, I had the benefit of the update working even tho I know it's a privacy concern and the sfc comand works as well, the toolbox is helpful for installing brave, visual c++ installers and directx, the sound mod is cool somewhat and use nvcleaninstall to make an Nvidia driver without the telemetry also and just works for me, this doesn't mean that anyone should trust him more for his custom iso's or that they're the best but I'm just saying that if ur like me and I don't want to take everything apart piece by piece and choose what u like then put it back together it's a pretty good one to use day to day like I do, its my point of view using his work for some years and being pleased with it, so as for right now I trust his iso's and I would always choose them over original Microsoft iso's.

I would love to see a follow-up and an elaborated video on Spectre. The newer versions include an SE edition, which allows to return to win 10 start menu. Would be cool to see you go into the updating feature that's through the Ghost Toolbox. The toolbox is very well done as well. I am still playing around with the OS in a VM but I really do like this!

I've been using this version for a long time now with zero issues. I only use windows for gaming and Linux for daily.

This is awesome Leo. How about a follow up video checking it for malware and viruses etc along different antivirus and see how it performs against full version with same antivirus.

I'd be very interesting in seeing a wireshark result on this system

I am using Ghost Specter windows 10 lite for quite a long time. Not just for gamers but this runs amazing in older pc's. I highly recommend it. And in my 7 or 8 months of use I've never seen anything suspicious or harmful for my system.

if we knew for a fact it was safe and it would keep getting security updates then this would clearly be a superior version in every way.

sadly it being a custom OS built by randoms, you just can't ever be sure you won't one day be screwed for using it due to some hidden code or missed security update that ended up making your system very vulnerable to major exploits, it's just too scary to use as your main OS for anything important.

Though, I guess it can be amazing if you use it on a machine you never intend to connect to the internet and only transfer singeplayer games to it? but that's such a niche concept, who would waste time doing that? I'd rather have my windows eat 2 more GB of my ram and be able to use the internet on my machine to do whatever I want.

Hi Leo, this looks awesome. How about a follow up video checking it for malware / viruses etc and installing / testing a game or 2 as well.

Cool, I habe been watching those videos about Windows 7, 8 and 10 how to reduce bloatware, telemetry and so on. So getting an .iso that lets you install only the stuff you really want sounds like a good idea. Greetings and thanks for sharing

I literally miss the days when you didn’t need a Microsoft account to setup Windows, and where there wasn’t a lot of things preloaded like OneDrive, Teams, and other apps they pay to have pre installed

Now that Tiny11 has been recently released, it would be great seeing a head to head comparison betwen Tiny11 and Ghost Spectre.
