Can I just say that I fully appreciate that you also give the measurements in grams because we don’t use the cup measurement in England and it’s so annoying to convert a recipe

Just writing out a brief method so I don't need to keep rewinding - feel free to use if u want :)

1. prep 2 9 inch (spring form) pans w/ parchment and greasing
2. sift flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt
3. add both sugars into bowl
4. sperapte bowl: add yolks and drizzle in oil when it gets thick add vanilla keep drizzling oil till its all in. Add 2 eggs.
5. add this custard mix to dry mix and fold together (it's chill if it's clumpy and dry)
6. seperatly heat milk till it begins to simmer
7. add this to the chocolaty mix wisking till its smooth-ish
8. pop in oven in oven for 30 - 35 min / do toothpick test
9. cool for 10 min inside pan
10. invert onto wire rack if you want flat tops
For frosting:
1. sift dry ingridients together
2. beat butter till soft then add the dry bit by bit
3. add milk till you get right consistency (don't over do it!!)

Frost cake and decorate. Let it rest/cool then enjoy well done!! okay i'm gonna make this now bbyyyyeeee!
if you're doing this in a smaller pan (like me) reduce temp and bake for longer not sure how long tho just do the toothpick thing :)

I've made this recipe a few times just without the cocoa powder so they were just vanilla and in cupcake form for parties. And I always get so many compliments and have been asked for the recipe. I can guarantee these will be a smash with everyone!

You're so adorable for assuming I have anything else than instant noodles in my pantry, Josh

If you are making the cake for a few people, the leftovers make delicious cake pops. I didn’t heavily ice my cake so I had leftover icing. I took about 3/4 of the cake and added left over icing and formed into balls. Froze for 10 minutes and dipped in desired chocolate. They were the best cake pops 🤤🤤🤤

Just made this last night at like 2am. First cake ive ever made and possibly the only cake I will ever make. It's a couple fancy techniques and that crumb and crust of the cake is just... mmmwah. I used some pretty old (not expired tho) powdered sugar and it left a very strange aftertaste, but not super noticeable. It reminds me specifically of a chocolate cake I used to eat when I was really young by a company called Bill Knapp's. I'm not sure where you get your recipes or how it is that you develop them, Josh, but you succeed so well with educating your audience on certain techniques and food science and whatnot that I am CONVINCED that this is the only chocolate cake that EVERYONE should know. It has sort of perked my ears up to the fact that the majority of people do not know anything about baking or even cooking in general, and that is why your channel is so incredibly valuable. Thank you, my friend.

Try adding two teaspoons of instant coffee granules to the cocoa, The coffee enhances the taste of the chocolate.
