Thank you! We've given our kiddo melatonin for a few years but recently we've decided after looking into it more that maybe it wasn't the right way to help and we looked into other options. We found another safer option in the form of essential oils and a product that is safer that helps rebuild melatonin naturally and paired with essential oils we've been able to stop using melatonin. We have a family member who was giving their kids 7mg a night which is insane and made us mad because we never gave ours more then 3/4th a mg a night and to find out how much her kids were getting a night was crazy to us and that's when we started to look into safety of melatonin and decided to find another option. We've also heard of a tea using banana peel with a little cinnamon boiled in water but have yet to try that. There are many different safer options then melatonin and what scares us is how many children are starting to end up in the ER due to melatonin OD because they got their hands on it and took way to much and we know when that happens there is no way to reverse the OD which is scary so we decided it's best if it's kept out of the house so we don't need to worry about that. We never kept it anywhere near somewhere our kiddo could get it infact I'm the only one who could reach it because we keep that and our other meds and things that need to be kept up on a shelf a foot from the ceiling. I'm the only one who can reach those things unless my wife uses the bed or goes down stairs and grabs a chair and even then she struggles to reach things on the shelf so we don't worry about our kiddo getting into dangerous things.
