3 Boxing Head Movement Mistakes
Показать описание
Here are 3 head movement drills to improve your boxing skills
All of these drills can be done at home with nothing but a slip bag
3 mistakes that beginners make is:
• Getting caught while stepping
• Getting beaten to the punch
• Getting counter punched
And in this video I show you 3 head movement drills you can use to improve
The First Drill - Getting your head off the centre line
If you're getting caught while stepping in to your opponents range, a lot of the time it means that you're coming straight in and this can be fixed by moving your head off the centre line
There are many ways to practice getting your head off the centre line but if you're by yourself or just training at home, the best way to do it is with a slip bag
Because if you're trying to build good head movement habits then you need something to keep you accountable when you make mistakes or get lazy and that's exactly what the slip bag does. It will hit you right in the face and let you know that you're not moving your head enough
The Second Drill - Move your head BEFORE you punch
If you're getting beaten to the punch by your opponent, one thing you can do to avoid that is to practice always moving your head BEFORE you punch.
Building the habit of head movement before attacking will improve your ability to counter punch and it will help to stop your opponent from beating you to the punch.
This is a head movement fundamental that is often overlooked
The Third Drill - Move your head AFTER you punch
Now this is a golden fundamental skill in boxing!
There's an old saying that goes 'stick and move' That means: punch him and be gone lol
And the reason for that saying is because after you attack, your opponent is going to counter attack and the best way to avoid that counter attack is to just not be there..
So building the habit of moving your head after you punch is some thing that should be in your training at all times and using a slip bag is a great way to practice that.
So there you have it, 3 head movement mistakes in boxing that can be fixed using a slip bag.
