Don’t let people discourage you, what others view as useless others view as useful. Go for the things you deem worthy. There aren’t enough thumbs down emojis for me to put in this video

Just bad advice, entry level folks there’s a lot to gain from the google cert, career opportunities, networking, and a lot of great knowledge, everybody can’t just fork up hundreds on demand

I agree from a purely HR filtering perspective. But I disagree from a learning perspective, if you just wish to learn, then it's a great resource.

I completed this in a week because I already have experience in the field. There are still some great info and some of the hands-on labs were great. If you're a beginner and getting overwhelmed with all the info on the internet and unsure where to start, before spending more money on courses, boot camps and others, I believe this will help you decide if you want to enter the cyber industry. At least it won't cost you thousands. If you dedicate more than the time they mention to complete this on Coursera, you can finish faster and save some money, and if you enjoyed what you learned, then you can move on to CompTIA Sec+, where you'll build upon what you learned from Google and help you study for the exam. Also, Google gives a discount on the price you'll pay for the CompTIA exam

You youself have two CCNA's and asking people to not go for certifications. Bro... Who claim that certification will give you a job but yes it do compelled an employer to call you for an interview and certifications have such a structured curriculum that helps you to crack an interview.

so if you end up being a hiring manager your company is not the one we should apply to... got it.

I’m almost done with this course. I am currently an intelligence analyst in the us army. I plan on finishing this course paid for by the army then taking a 3 week in person course to get my sec+. I should be done with these by the end of this summer and by July 2025 is when I plan on getting a job in the Los Angeles area. I’ll probably take more courses in order to overall prepare myself more. From what I have been seeing in the LA area are entry level cyber security analyst roles no less than a $90k starting salary really. Having a secret or Top Secret clearance can also help you land a 6 figure starting salary from what it looks like on LinkedIn. Just got to work for a national defense oriented company.

This might be beneficial for those who are already involved in Information Technology industry for many years. I can leverage this certification since I myself want to get my footing in cybersecurity field. This is not recommended for those who have zero IT experience. Once you can gain experience through help desk/IT support/technical support roles then add this to your resume. One tip is I found that focusing on networking is advantageous to a job in cybersecurity because you must understand the ins and outs of network security. Know what a firewall is used for and how you can prevent unwanted network traffic or hackers from accessing sensitive data information. It might be worth to obtain Cisco network certificates to standout.

Wouldn’t the google cert just be a good foundation. Then you can go for a blue team cert, and splunk cert further crediting you as a creditable analyst

Look this is my question if I don’t know anything about cybersecurity but want to learn the basics will this be good for me? You guys are watering down this field with these videos.. ofc the certs are the goal but what’s the point of having certs if you don’t know what you’re doing or how to properly and efficiently protect these peoples data

You are wrong bro. I have worked in network and security solutions implementation and getting certified is beyond that just getting a job. It demonstrates that you have more probabilities, or you can perform a specific task. Moreover, I participated in tender processes which requires certain level of experience of consultants AND specific certifications. Without it your Organization wont have a chance to win a big project.
People less youtube and more study. Having certifications is better than not having one. Moreover, you learn things in the process.

What should i do instead? It sounds like you are in Australia as well. I am currently doing a certificate IV Cybersecurity not google or coursera related but finding it challenging to get any jobs in IT atm and getting rejected as well.

I respect your opinion, and agree to a certain extent. What you’re not thinking about is this can be something to start with though…I think it’s somewhat misguided to get it and think you’re getting hired. I’m doing it while studying for my CompTIA A+. Before you tell me that one is also pointless save your breath. I’m not planning on applying for any jobs with these but to at least set a foundation to build on. Maybe rather than bash this certification just say it’s most likely not going to lead to a job. That’s fine, and I personally could care less. I’m happy knowing I’m starting my journey with more knowledge than I started with. Also, when I am ready to start applying it at least shows some sort of dedication to learning. Just my 2 cents.

How about the guy who has zero knowledge or experience in the cybersecurity field? Don’t you think it’s a good introduction to the industry?

I’m a mechanic, and the more certifications you show me, means potentially strong commitment.

It’s not that your certifications amounts means you can ACTUALLY DO IT. to me it just means you’re putting in more time and shows you’re more committed than the other.

The rest is up to you. This is is why I always prefer a WORKING interview. This provides real world data on how you truly perform prior to being hired.

Show me what you got.

I have a question to you .If I enroll a course due to a financial aid do I have the right to start it anytime I want ? Or I should start when they say it is available now to me?

Question for Google hiring manager: If I complete this course satisfactorily, would you hire me to work for you? Helpfully I get an honest answer.
