Man, it hurts realizing this movie is almost a quarter of a century old and that most of the adult cast is no longer with us.

People forget how big a deal this movie actually was at the time. I worked at the Warner Bros store in the mall at the time this came out and we had the trailer in the rotation on our video wall. People can into the store just to watch the trailer, then came back an hour later to watch it again. Every floor employee had to read at least the first book because people came in asking us questions about plot points.

Okay, in Ron's defense- he is not the dumb one in the books! The director liked Emma Watson so he gave her a lot of lines that would have been Ron's. In the books he is street smart (not book smart) and has a lot of knowledge about the Wizarding World that Hermoine and Harry don't which comes in handy more than a few times. They did him dirty in the movies- especially the first two.
