How to Become a Better Negotiator?
There are three main tactics to help you seal the deal when it come to negotiation. The ability to be an effective negotiator is crucial in business and in general, daily life. A common misconception is that negotiating is all about bargaining- it is not. Below are the 3 SECRETS to become a better negotiator and also a better communicator:
1. Listen empathetically, be an active listener (do this to find what the other person is looking for)
2. Preparation (tip: never go straight to a number/price). Prepare yourself for the deal (I.e. do you research on that product, on your negotiation partner, on the market price for that item).
3. A MYTH! : “Never make the first offer.” (Tip: set these 3 things: goal, target, & bottom line) The worst case scenario is breaking even. Instead, make knowledgeable offers!
